Did you hear that Maine has been experiencing overnight temperatures in the 30s? Oh, never mind.

NO MORE WEATHER REPORTS

After reporting that Lexington KY was experiencing a cooling rain, we were told that we should leave reports on the weather to professional meteorologists, that, in fact, today’s Northern Kentucky Kennel Club show was beset by a torrential downpour resulting in steam bath like conditions.

CH Honore‘s Lily Bell

We readily admit that we are better at reporting show results than the weather. So, without further prologue, here are today’s results from Lexington. Norman Patton’s final included the Labrador Retriever CH Robnie's Chantilly At Lighthouse, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Celestial CJ‘s Hearts On Fire, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Allure Blazing Star Alisaton, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH J’Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, the Italian Greyhound, CH Honore‘s Lily Bell, an unnamed Bichon Frise, and the Puli, CH Cordmarker Field Of Dreams.

BIS went to the juggernaut that is the Doberman Pinscher, CH Allure Blazing Star, picking up her 38th Best this year. We are starting to run out of superlatives to describe this girl. All we can say is, plan to get out to see this girl. You will not be disappointed.

RAIN IN KENTUCKY

MAINE WEATHER REPORT

It’s not as warm in Maine as it is in Kentucky, but the competition is just as hot. The US number seven dog, the Boxer, CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, went BIS today at the Central Maine Kennel Club’s first show of the week under judge Jay Richardson.

CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream

The Pug, CH Norkus Risky Business, made it to the final seven at the expense of the country’s number one Toy Dog, the Toy Poodle, CH Smash Jp Moon Walk, who finished second in Don Rodgers’ Toy Group. The remaining finalists were the English Setter CH Reidwood Red Alert , the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Of Afrikka Spring Valley Dorian Gray JC, the American Staffordshire Terrier, CH Major Legue's U Gotta Believe, a Standard Poodle to be named later, and the Pembroke Corgi, CH Sippiwisset Sea Shanty. Like we said, it’s hot everywhere.

IT'S HOT IN KENTUCKY

CH Allure Blazing Star Alisaton &
handler Carissa Demilta Shimpeno

We hear it’s unbelievably hot in Lexington KY. We’re talking about the competition, not the weather, with several of the nation’s top twenty five all trying to get in as many shows as possible. The weather is warm there with temperatures rising nearly to the 90 degree mark. One dog that seems impervious to the heat is the Doberman Pinscher, CH Allure Blazing Star Alisaton. The country’s number two dog all breeds went back to the RV tonight with her second BIS trophy in two days. The forecast calls for lower temperatures tomorrow and rain. Don’t look for the competition to cool down, however.

MID-KENTUCKY FINALISTS

We told you last night that the Doberman Pinscher, CH Allure Blazing Star, was Dr Lee Reasin’s BIS choice at yesterday’s Mid-Kentucky Kennel Club show.

CH Ab-Rafiki The Icon Of Cool

Also in the opening final in Lexington KY was the Labrador Retriever CH Robnie's Chantilly At Lighthouse, the Basenji, CH Ab-Rafiki The Icon Of Cool, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH J’Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, the Papillon, CH Arkeno's Ears To You, the Lowchen, CH Chic Choix Bihar Cuba, and the Puli, CH Cordmarker Field Of Dreams. Kentucky’s horse country will be the site for four more shows this week.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!

Dog Show Poop is one year old today. We introduced ourselves to you all on August 27, 2008 in our post, Dog Show Junkie. Initially we expected this to be a typical personal blog where we could indulge ourselves with weekly stories about our newly acquired Cairn puppy and our visits to our local AKC conformation shows. However, we quickly became fascinated with last year’s top ten dogs and their race to the end of the year. As the months wore on we began to see some opportunities to provide the dog show going public with some canine coverage not available elsewhere. Here’s a timeline with some of the innovations we have implemented during the past year:
  • 30 Sep 08...Real Time Top Ten Rankings
  • 13 Dec 08...Real Time Breed/Group Wins (with photos) from the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship
  • 23 Dec 08...Our Own National & Regional Ranking System
  • 02 Jan 09...We begin reporting every BIS & Group winner at every AKC all breed show.
  • 08 Jan 09...DOGS2WATCH, We create a designation for dogs we think will be winning in the future.
  • 02 Feb 09...We break the story that a Portuguese Water Dog will be the First Pooch. That’s right. We had the story six weeks before anyone else.
  • 04 Feb 09...What To Watch for at Westminster (WWW), Group by Group handicapping
  • 09&10 Feb 09...The most complete Westminster coverage anywhere, Real Time Breed Wins (with photos) and an interactive Garden Party during the Group and BIS judging. We receive 25,000 hits during the two day Garden coverage.
We now average 1,000 hits a day from 120 countries on six continents. We believe our success is mostly due to the participatory nature of the blog. We are basically a one man operation. However, we do rely, in large part, on the dozens of loyal readers who contribute show reports and background stories to share with you all. We hope that we can continue to bring you the features you want in a dog site. Because we want to bring you the most objective reporting, we accept no paid advertising from exhibitors, breeders, or handlers.

We hope to keep improving the blog and offering you more of what you want. In the coming months we will be getting out more while we show our Cairn and hope to meet more of our readers. We have already booked our flights to Philadelphia PA for the Montgomery County Kennel Club show in October and to Long Beach CA for the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship in December. Our heartfelt thanks to all who have made contributions to these pages over the last year and our everlasting gratitude to all of our readers. You have made all this past year worth the work!

MORE BIS REPORTS

CH Lajosmegyi Singin' in The Rain

We have three more BIS for you. First from Lake Elmo MN where the St Croix Valley Kennel Club held a pair of shows, we have a report that the Old English Sheepdog, CH Bugaboo’s Georgie Girl, took home the big rosette on Saturday and on Sunday, the Golden Retriever, CH Toasty’s Treasure Island, was the top pick. Our third BIS winner was in Redmond WA where the Puli, CH Lajosmegyi Singin' in The Rain, took the top prize at the Sammamish Kennel Club’s show. If Kelly looks familiar it’s because he is the litter brother of CH Cordmaker Field Of Dreams, the number three dog in the US.

SUNDAY IN SANTA ROSA

A reader has provided us with today’s results from the Mensona Kennel Club show in Santa Rosa CA.

CH Capri’s Magic Maker Of Sassy

Lining up for BIS judge Connie Redhead were the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, CH Flatbrook Royal Point Attitude JH, the Whippet, Starline Chanel, the Boxer, CH Capri’s Magic Maker Of Sassy, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Brussels Griffon, CH Cashin’s Walking The Line, the Standard Poodle, CH Pendragon Masaniello, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Rohan’s Reward HT CD RE.

BIS went to the Boxer, Dante, his second this year. We first took notice of Dante when he closed out 2008 by beating the top two Boxers of 2008 at the Oakland Kennel Club show on 30 December. Dante, bred by Sydney Brown & Kristine Anderson and owned by Richard & Marsha Servetnick & Barbara Bachman, has been out and about for the last two years with different handlers and owners, but seems to have new life with Gary Streel, a man whose name is synonymous with the breed. Congratulations to them all.

TOP THREE TAKE BIS

We have another trio of BIS to reports and how fitting it is that they involve the top three dogs in the US.

CH Cordmaker Field Of Dreams

The number one dog in the nation is the Scottish Terrier, CH Roundtown Mercedes Of Maryscot. Sadie pickd up the hat trick in Atlanta taking all three BIS there including today’s Conyers Kennel Club of Georgia show. The number two dog in the US, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Allure Blazing Star Alisaton, also logged a threepeat, winning three of the four shows in Kansas City MO, ending with the Heart Of America Kennel Club show today. It was the country’s number three dog, the Puli, CH Cordmaker Field Of Dreams, who won the day one show of the Heart Of America Kennel Club on Saturday.

Congratulations to them all. Were you one of the lucky people who got to see one the top twenty five this week?
