We have had several opportunities for exhibitors all over
New York state these past week. Two
weeks ago there were three shows in New Paltz NY, 90 minutes due north of
Manhattan, hosted by the Wallkill Kennel Club, the Shawangunk Kennel Club, and
the Mid-Hudson Kennel Association. On
day one the seven dogs who made it to judge Sonny Ambrosio’s final were the Labrador
Retriever, CH Frakari's Katydid, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Exlysta Aries Ciel
Noir, the Boxer, CH Jacquet's Annie El Encanto, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Class
Act By Hallsblu, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Tupelo Axel Rose Br, the
Schipperke, GCH CH De LaMer Point Break, and the Shetland Sheepdog, Mercury's
Scene Stealer.
GCH CH De LaMer Point Break
Grabbing the opener’s BIS was the Boxer, Annie. The RBIS went to the Schipperke, Surfer. It was the first BIS in seven final appearances
this year for Annie and handler Carmen Skinner.

Rick Tomita, and owners Dave & Nancy Sparks.

Thomas Parrotti had Friday’s final for the Shawangunk Kennel
Club and his pick of the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Starfield's Army Strong
V Bulkley JH, the same Afghan Hound, Ryder, the Siberian Husky, CH Snowfire's
Holy Moses, the same, Kerry, Blu, the Papillon, GCH CH Wildfire On The Edge, a
Standard Poodle from the classes, Saphire's Black Ice, and the Rough Collie,
GCH CH Milas Latin Fever.

The Kerry, Blu, collected the Best In Show and the Papillon,
Cliff, took home the Reserve. It was the
second this year for Blue in ten final attempts. Blu is the only Kerry to win a BIS this year.
GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire
The Mid-Hudson Kennel Association had the coveted Saturday
date. Judge Sari Tietjen had the final.
The seven she considered were the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s
Riley on Fire, the Afghan, Ryder, a Newfoundland, Pouch Cove's Southwind Edge
Of Glory, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Charthill Top Billing, the Schipperke,
Surfer, and the Australian Shepherd, CH
Crofton Fat Chance.
Her Best was the IWS, Riley, and her Reserve was the not yet
two year old Newfoundland. Riley is the
country’s Number One Irish Water Spaniel and Number Three Sporting Dog with four
BIS and 21 Sporting groups.
Meanwhile the Genesee Valley Kennel Club was in Rush NY,
just south of Lake Erie and Rochester NY, for their two shows. On Saturday judge Jack Ireland saw the Irish
Setter, GCH CH Northwoods First Reign, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Scaramouche
Show Must Go On, the Akita, GCH CH CR Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Smooth Fox Terrier,
Absolutely Lost, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hampton Court’s Charlie at Legend,
the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Jaboa’s Second to None, and an Australian
Shepherd, Hearthside Big & Rich.
Judge Ireland liked the Irish Setter, Reign, for his BIS and
the Akita, Trader, for his RBIS. It was
the first BIS for Reign, the nation’s Number One Irish Setter, and Number Seven
Sporting Dog, in 17 trips to the final ring this season. Congratulations to breeders/owners Rebecca
& Jeff Arch, co-breeders Sharon Reilly & L Sommers, and owners Don
& Nancy Keane.
GCH CH Rosewood's Royal Flush
Reign would be back on Sunday to plead his case with Ken
Buxton. He was joined by the Norwegian
Elkhound, GCH CH Tioka's American Ride, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Rosewood's
Royal Flush, the same Smooth Fox, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy
Spaniel, CH Chaseland's Howard Glodek, a Standard Poodle from the classes, Stonehaus
Duchess Of Coolsville, and the above named Australian Shepherd.
It would be the Newfoundland, Charles, getting the big
rosette, and Reign getting the reserve ribbon.
It was Charles’ first BIS in just three visits to the BIS ring this year. Congratulations to breeder/owner Michelle
Morris, and handler Sam Mammano.
GCH CH Kan Sing Tenzin
This past weekend New Yorkers headed to Bainbridge NY, three
hours northwest of Manhattan, for three shows hosted by the Kanadasaga Kennel
Club, the Del-Otse-Nango Kennel Club, and the Chenango Valley Kennel Club. The KKC was up first on Thursday with Brian
Meyer in the final ring with the Irish Setter, CH Evergreen Good Intentions,
the Smooth Dachshund, CH R'Hill's Total Knockout MS, the Boxer, GCH CH Hi Tech
The King of Sherry Shoot Jp, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Class Act By
Hallsblu, the Pekingese, GCH CH Yakee’s Easily Persuaded, the Tibetan Spaniel,
GCH CH Kan Sing Tenzin, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Cool As A Cucumber.

Judge Meyer went with the Tibbie, Tenzin, as his Best and
the Briard, Dill, as his Reserve. Tenzin
is the US’ Number One Tibetan Spaniel, and the Number Eight Non-Sporting Dog
with two BIS and 28 Non-Sporting Groups.
Tenzin and the Peke, Rodger were the only two of Thursday’s
finalists to make it back to the last ring.
Rounding out Bev Capstick’s seven were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise
Sentinel, the Borzoi, GCH CH Raynbo’s Run For The Roses, the Siberian Husky,
GCH CH Snowmist's Quicksilver Speigas, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Dogwood
Treasure Hunter, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy.
And it would be Rodger and Tenzin finishing one/two. Rodger is the Number One Pekingese and the
Number Four Toy Dog in America with six BIS and 30 toy Groups.

At Saturday’s CVKC show Nancy Bodine would consider the
previously seen Springer, the Longhaired Dachshund, CH Dachsadore Isle Degrand
Best Man, the aforementioned Siberian, the West Highland White Terrier, CH
Deerhaven Hez Justin Kredible at Orion, the Peke, Rodger, the Tibbie, Tenzin,
and the Australian Shepherd, Kinnebrook Safe At Home.
GCH CH Cerise Sentinel
Judge Bodine would name the Husky, Fizzy, her BIS and the
Springer, Cerutti, as her RBIS. It’s the second BIS in ten final appearances
for Fizzy and handler Tim Terella.
