CELEBRATING FIVE YEARS!

We are celebrating a belated Fifth Anniversary here on Dog Show Poop. (a trip yesterday to the local emergency room for instructions on properly taking our heart medications postponed the party)  It was five years ago yesterday that we penned our first blog post, Dog Show Junkie.  Little did we know that five years later we would be more deeply involved in the dog show world than ever.

We founded Dog Show Poop on forty plus years of attending AKC dog shows.   Over the past five years we have crisscrossed the United States to see the finest dogs that AKC has to offer and to meet the wonderful people behind them.  We have attended the many of the US’ marquee shows, including Palm Springs, the Rose City Classic in Portland OR, the Kentuckiana Cluster in Louisville, the Westminster Kennel Club show, and the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.

We have provided the dog show community with over 5500 posts, including show results, the most up to date traditional rankings, our own ranking system based on number of BIS and Group Placements, and a list of promising newcomers, our DOGS2WATCH.   We have been the show community’s honest broker.  We take no advertising from people involved in the sport, and produce Dog Show Poop with no outside financing.  We cheer every BIS, RBIS, and Group winner.  We never take sides in the rankings race.

While we see our mission as a cheerleader for the AKC conformation show, we have occasionally pulled out our soap box.  We have continually fought against the animal rights terrorists who have laid siege to the British Kennel Club and Crufts.  We have provided fanciers with primers on lobbying for the rights of breeders and owners.  We have advocated for AKC’s at risk breeds, those breeds which have fewer than 200 individual registrations a year.  We have criticized poor sportsmanship and attempts to game the system.

We thank the more than 2.2 million people who have visited our site these past five years and all those who have provided us feedback and moral support over the last five years.  We hope to keep doing this as long as the community wants us to.
