At one hundred miles west of Oklahoma City and  150 miles east of Amarillo TX, Elk City OK is one of our more remote show venues.  Nonetheless, the West Central Oklahoma Kennel Club had no problems drawing some of the country’s top dogs to its shows last week.   One of those dogs, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, would make the most of the opportunity taking three of the four top prizes.

The first came at Thursday’s opener when BIS judge Dr Judith Newton chose Chet out of a seven that included  the Irish Setter, GCH CH Jadestar Rifleman, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Boxer, CH Jokar's N Happy Tail's Fergalicious, the Norfolk CH Barnstable Bold Over, the Pug, GCH CH Winsome-Nirvana-Blaque Triple Play, the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious Hamitup Double Vision, and her Reserve winner, the Border Collie, GCH CH F Si A Ge Of Fu You Yuan Kennel.

Chet and handler Susie Olivera would also take Friday’s BIS and the Boxer, Fergie, would pick up the RBIS.  Also making Garry Nerwton’s final were the Golden Retriever,  CH Vanreel's There Goes My Money CD, the above named Norfolk, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop, the Lhasa Apso, CH Sundancers Hylan Shotru Brandy Mine, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Briarbrooks Zenyatta.

On Saturday Chet would take the supporting role, receiving the Reserve Best In Show from judge Donavon Thompson, who named Fergie, the Boxer, as his Best.  Playing bridesmaids were the Pointer, GCH CH Chesterhope Stat of T Art, the Norwich Terrier, CH Michan's Mick Like a Rolling Stone, the Keeshond, CH Karina's You Can't Stop The Beat, and the previously seen Australian Shepherd.  It’s the second BIS in six final appearance this year for the 25 month old Boxer bitch.

Chet would get the three-peat on Sunday under judge Doris Cozart.  The Boxer, Fergie, would add another RBIS to her ribbon collection.  Staying to the end to watch it all were the  returning Golden, Norfolk, Papillon, Lhasa, and Australian Shepherd.  Chet is the country’s Number Two Hound and Number 12 Dog All Breeds with eight BIS and 52 Hound Groups.
