IRISH SETTER CLUB OF AMERICA

GCH CH Antares Ameilia Earhart

The Irish Setter Club of America drew nearly 300 entries this past week for their National Specialty in Oklahoma City OK.  Sam Houston MacDonald completed the regular dog classes and then handed over his Winners, Tramore Notorious (from the 9-12 Puppy class!), to Robert McKay to finish up with the regular bitch classes & the intersexes competition.  His Winners/Best of  Winners, from the Bred By Exhibitor class, was Kellyglens All About The Journey.  Best of Opposite Sex went to the three year old dog GCH CH Windntide Mr. Sandman.  You may remember Clooney as the BIS of this past November’s Kennel Club of Philadelphia show.  The big prize, ISCTA 2011 BISS, went to GCH CH Antares Ameilia Earhart.

The win will make four year old Lucy the Number One Irish Setter in the US based on breed points.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Mary & Pat Goeke and handler Monica Lamontagne.

  5. Congratulations to LUCY/Ch. Antares Amelia Earhart, bred and owned by Mary and Pat Goeke, Kansas folk, on her beautiful performance at the ISCA National! BOS went to the handsome Clooney, a Washington-bred. A salute to AOM winners Ch. Slaysett Diamond Liz who hails from Texas, who arrived there from the Veteran Bitch class; Ch. Courtwood Seeker (MN) the victor of the Veteran Dog class, and Ch. Courtwood Way Too Cute, JH (CA), who trucked around the ring insisting the judge look at her, coming from the Hunting Bitch class.
Other winners came from NY, NJ, IL, PA, MI, CO, AZ and Canada. Truly a National gathering!
Ones to watch are Best Puppy, Jadestar Riding Shotgun, and Best in Sweepstakes Mi Jeans Ultimatum. Best in Veteran Sweepstakes was "Bagger" Ch. Galewinns Spirit of Tramore (CO). Irish setter watchers take note!
