Here at Dog Show Poop, we don’t get enough time to spend on Specialties, i.e., single breed shows. It’s a practical matter. We already cover nearly 1500 shows a year. Furthermore results of specialties are hard to come by. Generally, the AKC does not publish results of Speciaties.
It’s a shame for we believe that a National Breed Club’s annual National Specialty are dog shows distilled to their purest form. You generally have a breed specialist judging, which is rarely the case at an all br
eed show. These shows frequently are the largest collection of breed specimens all year. The recent Irish Setter National Specialty featured nearly 500 entries. Best of all the gallery includes the real experts on the breed, the long time breeders. If you want to learn about an individual breed, attend a National Specialty.
We are, therefore pleased to tell you about these three recent National Specialty winners. Most recently, the Komondor, CH Lajosmegyi Djaam, was John Landis choice for BISS at yesterday’s Komondor Club of America National Specialty in Rapid City SD. Congratulations to breeders Anna Quigley & Pat Turner and owners Nancy Powell & Toni Powell. She was owner handled by Nancy.
CH Topsfield-Sanchu Pop Art O’Bridi
Next ,we have the results of the Basset Hound Club of America’s Nationaly Specialty earlier this month in Shelton Washington. Breeder judge Gwen McCullagh choice for BOB was CH Topsfield-Sanchu Pop Art O’Bridi. Arty was bred by Dr Claudia Orlandi, Judi Kinnear and Jim Bacha, is owned by Dr Claudia Orlandi and Claire K. Steidel, and handled by Sue Frischman. Bravo to them all.
Finally, we have the recent Giant Schnauzer Club of America’s National Specialty in Roseville CA. Best Of Breed was CH Ingebar’s Sergeant Pepper, the first salt & Pepper Giant to win a National Specialty. Only 22 months old he is bred/owned by Maryanne Bisceglia, one of the breeders of last year’s number one dog all breeds, CH Galilee's Pure Of Spirit. Congratulations to Maryanne, one of the nicest people we know in dogs or anywhere.

CH Shireoak Caniscaeli Windsong
Carl Liepmann chose the Irish Red and White Setter, CH Shireoak Caniscaeli Windsong, as BISS at the National Specialty of the Irish Red and White Setter Association of America held September 19th in Metamora MI. Eamon was the first Red & White to win a Sporting Group in the US. Our congratulations to breeder Kim Spelmer, owners Gail & Leslie Harrison & Douglas Johnson, and handler Greg Myers.

Will we get any results from the Bull Terrier National Specialty and Silverwood taking place in San Jose, California?
ReplyDeleteLike we said, it is pretty much up to the breed fanciers. We generally only hear about Specialty results when an exhbitor or fancier sends them in to us. Most of the time AKC does not post the wins.

ReplyDeleteThat NSCA (Shiba) National Specialty was October 10th. Jean Fournier was the judge. Best of Breedr was Ch. Jogoso's Fool For Love "Buddy" handled by Austin McCarty who was also BJH. Interestingly, Buddy is the sire of the 2008 Shiba National Specialty winner Ch. Pacific Rim's Whole Lotta Love. Complete results are available at my blog (see below)
