We had show in three sites in Region Five, the South Central Region, including the only four day stand and our own local show. We did give you all the details on our backyard bash, but you’ve only hand a glimpse at the festivites down in Lafayette LA.
It started on Friday with Maxine Beam putting up the Norwich, CH Skyscot’s Poker Chip, on day one of the AcadianaKennel Club show. Pokey’s formidable competition included the Black Cocker Spaniel, Casablancas Thrilling Seduction, the Petit Bassett Griffon Vendeen, CH Rokeena Carte Blanche, the Boxer, CH Bravo N Sunset Stealing Time, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Mondrian V H Lamslag , the Standard Poodle, CH Donnchada Sweet Dreams, and the Puli, CH Cordmaker Field Of Dreams.
Day two featured Houston Clark had the judge’s book and the same seven dogs (Now, how often does that happen?) His BIS was the country’s number one Herding Dog, the Puli, Conrad.
The Baton Rouge Kennel Club took over on Sunday and judge Robert Shreve had a little more variety. While the PBGV, the Boxer, and the Norwich were all back, it was the first final of the weekend for the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Star K's Mile Hi Valentine, the Pekingese, CH Franshaw Hear Me Roar, the Chinese Shar-Pei, CH Chaoyang Chick Magnet At Asia, and the Rough Collie, CH Sylvan Argent Simply Irresistible.
And one of the newcomers now has a new BIS. The Shar-Pei, Magnum, picked up his second BIS. At just 18 months old, this guy can only get better. Bravo to breeders Linda Cosier & Lisa Myers, owners Bonnie Berney & Helga Kamp, and handler David Williams.

Region Five is one of our largest regions geographically. Our next show site is Longmont CO. The Flatirons Kennel Club had two shows to offer. On Saturday, the BIS judge was Eric Ringle and the ultimate seven were the Golen Retriever, CH Toasty’s Treasure Island, the Whippet, CH Wasatch Capricious Dream Of The Ring, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Nashem’s He’s The Man Of Woodmoor, the Airedale Terrier, CH Huntwood’s Wildest Performance, the Affenpinscher, CH Tamarin Tug, the Chinese Shar-Pei, CH Guthrie’s How Sweet It Is, and the Old English Sheepdog, CH Bugaboo’s Georgie Girl.
BIS went to the old OES, one of only two OES this year to win a BIS. Colton Johnson handles l for his parents Douglas & Michaelanne Johson who bred and own the three year old girl. Congratulations to the Johnsons and co-breeder P Henry and co-owner B Callahan.

Sunday the OES and Golden were back to lobby Gloria Kerr for another look. Also vying for the best were the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Afterglow Ebeneezer, the Rottweiler, CH Nighthawk’s Born For Highwood, the West Highland White Terrier, CH Serendipity’s Crazed About You, the Pekingese, CH Dunkirk Center Stage, and the Tibetan Terrier, CH Ri Lee’s Diamond Heirloom. The OES had the momentum and the judge’s eye and picked up the second BIS.
We still have more. Check back in a few.
