The second weekend in November is an important one in the dog world, featuring one of the only two televised AKC dog shows remaining on the AKC calendar, the Thanksgiving staple, the Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s National Championship.
GCH CH Absolutely Signature
The set began today with the PennTreaty Kennel Club’s day one show. Judge Sharol Candace Way had the final and her choice of the Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc's Greyborn North Star Of Acadia, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International Success, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Signature, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Bar-None Pistolera, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Corgard’s Dial One-VIII Hundred Yum Yum.
The Akita, Trader, grabbed the day one big rosette and the Smooth Fox took the reserve ribbon. The win sets a new career record for an Akita Dog at 31 BIS. The breed record was set at 61 BIS in 2007 by the Akita bitch, CH Redwitch Reason to Believe. Trader is the country’s Number Working Dog with 18 BIS and 55 Working Groups this year.
