Michelle Edling and Her Belgian Tervurens
Over the past several years we have followed several
breeders/owners/handlers who have risen to dominance in their individual
breeds, but are not well known to the fancy at large because they don’t travel
a great deal. Unfortunately many in our
sport will never get to see these people and their wonderful dogs in the ring.
One such breeder is Michelle Edling of Sky Acres Belgian
Tervuren of The Dalles OR. Michelle has
been producing BIS winning Tervuren since 1984 and was AKC Herding Group
Breeder of the Year in 2009. Michelle
rarely leaves the Pacific Northwest.
However, two weeks ago she ventured out in her motor home headed to the
Northern California town of Dixon to attend the Redwood Belgian Tervuren
Fanciers specialty. She never made it to
Dixon.
A big rig jack knifed on I-5 in front of Michelle and her motorhome was
destroyed. Fortunately, Michelle and her
dogs escaped serious injury. Michelle
credits her airline approved crates for protecting her dogs. We are thankful that Michelle and her
beautiful Tervurens will be around for many years to come.
You can help Michelle replace all the show equipment and
personal property she lost by visiting this site and making a donation. Consider it an investment in the future of
our sport.
