  2. First up tonight is judge Sam Houston McDonald’s Sporting Group. Three of my picks made it out of the breed and will appear tonight. 2013’s Number One Sporting Dog, the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the Number Two Dog, the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration with Traddles, and the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward.

  3. My fourth pick, the Pointer, GCH CH Chesterhope State of T Art, was defeated in the breed.

  4. One surprise entry was 2011's Number One Dog All Breeds, the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca's Thrilling Seduction. Beckham is the Number Two Sporting Dog of all time, but never won Westminster or the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.

  5. In the Working Group, I had hoped to see last year's Number Two Dog, the Doberman, FiFi. However, FiFi was walked out of Dr Robert Indeglia's breed ring without a ribbon today. One year it's licks, the next it's kicks in the knees.

    1. Yes, lots. Lots of terriers, several working breeds and sporting, too. Just 2 devices, though. Especially liked the Westie selections (my own breed).

  9. This Pointer was bred by the same breeder as my pick.

  10. The Golden competition was brutal with more than one BIS winning Golden left in the breed.

  11. Most owners of pet labs would not recognize a lab show dog

    ReplyDelete
  12. Kiki was one of several BIS winning English Setters competing today

    ReplyDelete
  13. Surprisingly, the British Kennel Club has the English Setter on their "At Risk" list with less than 200 registrations last year. Imagine no English Setters in England. Thank you PETA

  14. Seymour was born in the US, but spent part of his earlier years in Colombia

  15. Ever notice just how different the Black Cockers are from the ASCOB & Parti?

    ReplyDelete

  20. OK, time for picks. I still favor the Irish Water Spaniel & Clumber, but I think Beckham will have a spot in the top four as will the Field Spaniel.

  24. The contracts Westminster has with CNBC and USA don't allow alternative broadcasts, but more and more people do not have cable TV. My son got rid of his last year. His family gets what they want on Netflix & Hulu

    ReplyDelete
  25. As much as I love my 47" HD TV, the breed judging on my daughter's min iPad was awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The Portuguese Water Dog will be almost unbeatable in the Working Group. He stood out like a beacon in today's breed ring

    ReplyDelete
  27. Matisse has been out 16 time this year and won 14 BIS, one RBIS, & one Group Two. The dog that beat him in that Group was the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca's Trade Secret, who will be in the group tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Nathan is a great Bloodhound, but probably won't be able to overcome the records that the IWS, Portie, Wire, & Poodle bring into the ring tonight

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't think the BIS judge has seen Nathan before.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I take credit for predicting that Nathan would be a favorite in the Hound Group. I too think that Bloodhounds and all the scent hounds should get more respect

    ReplyDelete
  36. Carrisa had another great Doberman at Westminster a few years back CJ. It was CJ who stared down the PR=ETA protestors who stormed the ring. She did not flinch when the chareged the ring, but stood her ground.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  67. The question is that the best Irish Water Spaniel, Bloodhound, Portuguese Water Dog, Wire Fox Terrier, Miniature Pinscher, Standard Poodle, or Cardigan Welsh Corgi you have ever seen?

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think three of the seven, the IWS, the Portie, & the MinPin have legitimate claims on that

    ReplyDelete
  69. There's a Group of us In SC That are hoping for a Upset! But the BIS Judge doesn't look like a Hound Person...LOL

    ReplyDelete
  70. I would be happy to see any of these seven go BIS. The Wynn Casino has the Portie first and the Wire second.
