We know at least one fancier that refers to New Mexico as a
dog show desert because of its lack of weekly show opportunities. At 400 miles west of Dallas and 240 miles
east of El Paso, Hobbs NM is literally in the middle of nowhere. Nonetheless, a very energetic Hobbs New
Mexico Kennel Club drew some major talent to its two shows this weekend.
GCH CH Coventry Just A Little Crush
On Saturday judge Stephen Hubbell’s final featured Brittany,
GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Osiris
Cowboy Cassanova, the Standard Schnauzer, CH Blackhawk Meyer Of Comiskey Park, the
Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Michan’s Mick A Rolling Stone, the Pug, GCH CH
Bookmark’s Uncommonly Good, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzosa Salvame
From Afterglow, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Just A Little
Crush.
Finishing one/two were the Poodle, Dino, and the Corgi,
Etta. Dino was 2013’s Number Ten
Non-Sporting Dog with seven BIS and 27 Group Ones. Congratulations to breeders Carlos Renau
& Lazaro Anelo, owners Sloan Barnett, George Linderman Sr, Michael Gadsby,
& Jason Lynn, and handler Amy Rutherford.
CH GCH Donnachada Angel Wings At Dulcinea
Sunday Dr Anthony DiNardo would see the five of Saturday’s finalists
and the Toy Poodle, CH GCH Donnachada Angel Wings At Dulcinea, and the
Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Copperridge What’s Your Dream. He would go with the two Poodles, the Toy, Angel,
whom he named Best and Dino, the Standard, whom he named Reserve.
2013 was
a very good year for Angel. She started
the year with a Best of Breed at Westminster and proceeded to collect 16 Toy
Groups to finish as the Number Two Toy Poodle.
Surprisingly to us, this is Angel’s first BIS. Congratulations to breeder Helen Craft, owner Sue Talkington, and
owner/handler Elizabeth Brown.
