GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire
To the general public today’s Kennel Club of Philadelphia
show must seem anticlimactic. Certainly
yesterday’s event had all the glitz and glamor, to be immortalized on thousands
of DVRs across the nation on Thanksgiving Day.
However, for those who spend most of their weekends at dog
shows, today’s final was a real treat.
Calling the Best In Show was one of the most recognizable of our judges,
Clay Coady. Seeking his favor were the
Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the Afghan Hound, GCH
CH Exlysta Aries Ciel Noir, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the
Kerry Blu Terrier, GCH CH Class Act by Hallsblu, the Pekingese, GCH CH Yakee’s
Easily Persuaded, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk,
and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Ha’Penny Mirimar The Fab Fawn.
GCH CH Yakee’s Easily Persuaded
Picking up the BIS was the IWS, Riley. Collecting the RBIS was the Peke, Rodger. The
win broke a breed record held by CH Oaktrees Irishtocrat, who collected his 34th and last BIS at the 1979 Westminster Kennel Club show. Riley’s record this year includes 21 BIS, 73
Sporting Groups, and a BISS at the 2013 National Specialty of the Irish Water
Spaniel Club of America. Congratulations
to breeders Colleen McDaniel & Stacy Duncan, owners Tom & Bethany Urban
& Gregory M Siner, and handler Richard Krieger.
