GCH CH Royalist Ready to Reign
We normally like to wait until we have the names of all the finalists to report on a Best In Show, but there are exceptions…like when a show takes place under a superintendent that waits for weeks to publish results from a show that takes place in an area where there is no AKC representative to report the winners, and the Group winners have owners who don’t know we are here to report their wins. (Yes, we admit it. There are exhibitors who have never heard of us.)
However, at least two of the dogs from Sunday’s North Arkansas Kennel Club show in Harrison AR did tell us about their wins. the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria's Lucky Charm, and the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Royalist Ready to Reign. Charles Trotter's BIS winner was the Toy Spaniel, Dash. It’s the second of the year for the little charmer and handler Laura King.

& Junior Handler Mary Lee
The Kuvasz, Zoe, who took the Group One on Saturday, was the Working Group Two winner on Sunday. Zoe is shown by twelve year old Junior Handler, Mary Lee. We’ve watched Mary for a couple of years at our local shows and we are amazed at her skill and maturity. We might even create a new category for her. How does JR2WATCH sound?
way to go junior to watch!
ReplyDeleteYou've got my vote for the JR2WATCH category!
ReplyDeleteBilly, actually Mary and Zoe got Working group 2 on Sunday in Harrison following the Group 1 on Saturday. She did get back-to-back group 1s on her beagle Tipper a couple of years ago in Olive Branch MS.
ReplyDeleteJuniors to watch, great idea!
ReplyDeleteIf your going to have a junior to watch group
ReplyDeleteIt's unfair to just do the wins winning the groups.
Some juniors have won national specialities and won huge supported entries on breeds that handlers mainly win in.
Great job, Mary and Zoe! I bet you both looked lovely

Love to see this! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteJR2Watch. I hope not. It is cute in theory - and I smiled at the comment - but (some of) the juniors are already competitive enough. To that end, I believe juniors should not even be allowed to advertise junior rankings, etc. as part of their "amateur" requirement.
ReplyDeleteKudos to this amazing handler - whatever her age. Now let's keep the politics out of the Junior ring to the extent that we can.
I agree, "JR2Watch" is a TERRIBLE idea. All the juniors are winners. Ranking them is a perversion.
ReplyDeleteI just suggested to Billy a few weeks ago that he include the Best Junior Handler with the show results here.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the above comment "ranking juniors is a perversion"...really? Junior showmanship is every bit as much a competition as breed and groups, and believe me, the juniors know exactly where they rank in both juniors and within their individual breeds. Sorry if you don't like it, but Juniors is actual competition, and they don't hand out ribbons and trophies just for participating. These kids work their butts off, and are justly rewarded with prizes, qualifying wins for invitational shows, rankings, and scholarship money.
The Skye Terrier, GCH CH Solana Big Lebowski won the Terrier Group both days.
