Come on in and join the party. Say “Hi” to the host (That’s me, Billy Wheeler) and join your friends to cheer on your favorites, tell us your Westminster war stories, and share your doggy gossip. We’ll do our best to keep those without TV access abreast of what’s going on, both on the screen and behind the scenes.
This promises to be an exciting finish to this year’s show. Relax, have fun, and don’t be shy about asking questions…or telling us we when get it wrong. (We have already been told about our ignorance of the need for a mane on the Scottish Deerhound.) That’s what this is for, to share in the fun of the game and maybe learn something too. Here we go!
Hi! Welcome all!
ReplyDeleteGood evening!
ReplyDeleteEveryone has Westminster fever. We had over 9,000 hits yesterday!
ReplyDeleteHi, Rick, Welcome back.
ReplyDeletegood job
ReplyDeleteany further thoughts on the proposed groupings?
ReplyDeleteThank you. You got me thinking about that realignment thing. I've been reading up on it between posts.
ReplyDeleteI think the english will win the group
ReplyDeleteThere are going to be ten groups, with between 12 and 28 breeds
ReplyDeleteAKC cut comments off last week, but no word on when we can expect implementation
ReplyDeleteBut with ten groups, that means three more group judges
ReplyDeleteTell us your name, Anonymous, I think you may be right
ReplyDeleteWould someone mind actually stating results as they come in, not just commenting on them? A few of us out here in our caves don't have access to TV coverage. Please if you could give all group placements and of course BIS!
ReplyDeleteThanks
I plan to do that tonight.
ReplyDeleteSo forgive my typos as I try to keep up. lol
ReplyDeleteI forgot completely to post the Golden Retriever winner earlier. It was CH Toasty's Treasure Island, one of our picks.
ReplyDeleteYeah I was curious to the regrouping as I am a fan of the Northern breeds, all in general and Samoyeds in particular.
ReplyDeleteThere was kind of a surprise today in Samoyeds
ReplyDeleteWe are the Racine's that think Eileen and her English will win the group tonight.
ReplyDeleteAnd here we go!
ReplyDeleteThat's two for Ross
ReplyDeleteYeah I was shocked I thought either celeste or hammy would win
ReplyDeleteIf Night One is any indication we can expect surprises
ReplyDeleteSammy's never get a second look anyways, regrouping may actually help the breed.
ReplyDeleteThe winner in Samoyeds was the 2007 top Sammie
ReplyDeleteYeah, just didn't here much from him this year.
ReplyDeleteI agree that regrouping will help some and it wont change much for others.
ReplyDeleteWe are excited to see who wins Jrs.
Racine's
Hi Billy
ReplyDeleteLincoln, the Brussels Griffon, will be a contender if gets through the Toy Group
ReplyDeleteDid any one watch any of the breed videos?
ReplyDeleteHi, Robin, did you lock that dog up? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI can't keep my Scottie crated either.
ReplyDeleteYes, the Papillons were great...I love the dog that won but it will have stiff competition in the group. But I have Papillons so maybe it's because it's my breed.
ReplyDeleteRacine's
Back to that black dog thing, Affenpinsher, Giant, Flat Coat. It could happen
ReplyDeleteLOL, they're in the yard. My Giants would try to go through the screen to get to the show ring!
ReplyDeleteIts been that kind of year ;)
ReplyDeleteHere comes the Sporting Group. All of our picks have made it through. The Golden, The English Setter, and the Irish Setter
ReplyDeleteThe Weimeraner, Olive could be a spoiler
ReplyDeleteThis is one beautiful group.
ReplyDeleteThe Brittany RJ is up first
ReplyDeleteHe's number one Brittany
ReplyDeletehi, Billy. West Coast doesn't it have it on TV until 8PM out here, and the Westminster site isn't as fast as you are. Thanks for doing this.

ReplyDeleteIncredible shine on the flat coat.
ReplyDeleteThis Golden is Treasure, Number one Golden and one of our picks

ReplyDeleteBlack Lab, nice sturdy dog
ReplyDeleteIt ain't good
ReplyDeleteToller is a nice small dog

This is the owner handled English Setter Ross and another Dog that could win the group
ReplyDeletei like the golden and the Eng setter so far ;)
ReplyDeleteI watched the breed video for my breed (Welsh Terrier) this morning (is wasn't available in Canada yesterday). I think they did a FANTASTIC job! Very thorough, and great angle shot at. I say "kudos" to Westminster for this!
ReplyDeleteLook how the handler puts the ears over the Gordon's face, accentuates the neck and the length of ear
ReplyDeleteNice to see more substance on the Irish Setters.
ReplyDeleteThis one is called Easi
ReplyDeleteThis year you wanted to be number 5 in your breed...there sure are a lot of 5's out there.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe West Coast isn't getting this live. What about the mountain time zone?
ReplyDeleteHas it happened yet? Who is the judge checkin' out? I hate not being able to watch.
ReplyDeleteThe Westminster site even says Don't visit out site if you want to watch it on TV and see it happen, because you will only see it later on TV :(
ReplyDeleteI love the Clumber.
ReplyDeleteAll Clumbers look like Drew Carry to me ;)
ReplyDeleteRe: Jasper - the sammy. Gorgeous dog, and spawned lots and lots of fabulous dogs. The 1 year old (on his birthday) who got the G1 in Phoenix on Sunday is his Grandson, I believe.
ReplyDeleteThis is the number one Black Cocker and a top tene Sporting Dog
ReplyDeleteThe ASCOB is also a top ten Sporting Dog
ReplyDeleteIs Linda going to make it two wins????
ReplyDeleteThe Parti is a handsome dog
ReplyDeleteNot in the same class as the other two
ReplyDeleteGood evening! This Year is All Black?
ReplyDeleteThe English Cocker looks more like the ones I grew up with
ReplyDeleteWelcome, I think maybe so.
ReplyDeleteThe ASCOB, Dylan, is a beautiful mover! Make it two for Linda!
ReplyDeleteI still like the duck troller
ReplyDeleteField Spaniel is one of our rare breeds
ReplyDeleteNice size for a suburban home
ReplyDeleteLove Robin Novack... when I was a newbie in the show world she treated me like an equal...always been grateful to her for that
ReplyDeleteIrish Water Spaniel always looks like a pet Poodle to me.
ReplyDeleteSussex are another really rare breeds. Look at the shine on that coat.
ReplyDeleteMy Cairn just took advantage of me typing and stole my sandwich!

Nice to see the Sussex still going strong at his age! He looked great!

ReplyDeleteThe topline on that Weim is incredible
ReplyDeleteL. Racine

ReplyDeleteI predict Ross, maybe the Pointer, Golden, Ascob Cocker

ReplyDeleteA stunning result in sporting group
ReplyDeleteBilly must be making another sadwich lol
ReplyDeleteThat ws a bit of a surprise. Stump is going to be like a pair of brown shoes at black tie affair tonight
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed Westminster has gone for the everman's dog lately?
ReplyDeleteeveryman'sdog
ReplyDeleteIn come the Toys
ReplyDeleteOf the grops so far is the one to beat the standard Poodle?
ReplyDeleteThe judge is a Pom breeder and there is a terrific one in this Group
ReplyDeleteWe haven't yet seen the #1 dog in the country! Haven't seen any hype on her either!
ReplyDeleteYay Stumpy! This is fun Billy. I read last nights blog, but didn't think about it until the groups were over...how fun to do it "live"
ReplyDeleteI would say Yes
ReplyDeleteTaser has been in a slump lately
ReplyDeleteHe looks good tonight
ReplyDeletelove this Affen! He's even cuter in person. Nice natural ears and tail. :)
ReplyDeletePaul does a great job with Lincoln
ReplyDeleteThis Cavalier is a DOG2WATCH, a British import
ReplyDeleteLong Coat Chihuahua
ReplyDeleteThe Scottie!
ReplyDeleteTeam Sadie
I'm so happy for Stump, he did all of his winning when I had only been in dogs a few years, and I have always been a huge fan of his. We got home from NYC in time to watch the group on TV and I was nearly in tears watching him win that group. What a great dog and how fantastic it is to see a 10 year old dog who still looks wonderful and has been kept in great condition.
ReplyDeleteI think if anyone beats Spirit tonight it will be a Toy
ReplyDeleteSmooth Coat Chihuahua has a fan club
ReplyDeleteThe smooth Chi. has good movement
ReplyDeletewith all of the upsets, Spirit needs to make it through the group!
ReplyDeleteI didn't like Chinese Crested originally, but they grew on me
ReplyDeleteLike a little Appaloosa
ReplyDeleteEnglish Toy Spaniel, Bleinem & Prince Charles
ReplyDeleteAmen, Robin
ReplyDeleteWant to name any possible spoilers?
ReplyDeleteVery nice Ruby
ReplyDeleteHandled by Ernesto Lara
ReplyDeleteI like the corded havenese
ReplyDeleteThis IG has done some nice winning
ReplyDeleteJapanese Chin
ReplyDeletewell, I personally don't think Spirit should be beaten, but there are some popular dogs in the working group...the Dobe, Rottie, Pyrenees, PWD
ReplyDeleteI take it I have no Toy people here?
ReplyDeleteLOL guess, not! bring on the working group!
ReplyDeleteThe Maltese used to be my breed...Go ahead, laugh. lol
ReplyDeleteDid that one look a little low to the ground, Billy?
ReplyDeleteBring us the Papillon
ReplyDeleteThe Racine's
I still have a soft spot for Toys, but I would never show one myself. The dog would laugh at me.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a little long in the back
ReplyDeleteToy Manchester is a neat dog, but not very popular
ReplyDeleteThis is a very nice Min Pin, Major
ReplyDeletemaybe that's what I was seeing. I think, as of now, it's probably between the Griffon and the Affen. Want to see the Pom though
ReplyDeletewas the phalene entered?
ReplyDeleteThis Papillon today, dog was a surprise winner
ReplyDeleteThis Peke is owned by Sascha Rockefeller
ReplyDeleteYes, it got an AOM (papillon)
ReplyDeleteYes, that Rockefeller
ReplyDeleteThe Pom was bred by a 24 year old guy from Brooklyn
ReplyDeleteAnd the handler is the top Pom handler. This dog could win the Group. He certainly asking for it
ReplyDeleteThe Toy Poodle gets better with each show
ReplyDeletehe was a crowd pleaser for sure! nice one..
ReplyDeleteWalker moves liek a dream
ReplyDeleteThe Pom showed himself off!
ReplyDeleteBoo the Pug has been on a roll lately
ReplyDeleteGosh, this is a tough group. Glad I don't have the job of judging this one.
ReplyDeleteGidget, the number one Shih Tzu
ReplyDeleteLooks like the Toy Poodle got freaked out by something - he had his tail tucked there for a while.
ReplyDeleteOwned by the Toy breeder of the year
ReplyDeleteNow the Silky could be in the Terrier Group
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color on this one
ReplyDeleteThe Toy Fox is a little shy on the table
ReplyDeleteThe Yorkie looks great on the table, but can it move?
ReplyDeleteThe tucked tail could have cost them the group.
ReplyDeleteWe like the Pom, Poodle, IG, and Brussels
ReplyDeleteThe Racine's
hmmm....Pom, Griffon, Affen, Poodle?
ReplyDeleteHere's my call...Poodle, Pug, Affen, Pom
ReplyDeleteI'm also going to go with the Pom, the Brussels, the Pug, and the Affenpinscher
ReplyDeleteI am sticking with the P's...Pom Poodle, Pug
ReplyDeleteHowever, if he pulls the Poodle, he may put him first.
ReplyDeleteWalker didn't make the cut. :(
ReplyDeleteLincoln, Boo, the Peke, and the Pom, Bon
ReplyDeleteBrussels, Pug, Peke, ?
ReplyDeleteI can't belive the poodle didn't make the cut
ReplyDeleteHe tucked his tail, that's the kiss of death at this level
ReplyDeleteRobin, do you think the Tibetan Mastiff has a shot? He has a huge following in SOCAL, right, Marcia?
ReplyDeleteHe might pull a piece of it...he has had alot of attention being a new breed
ReplyDeleteRobin, you're the working group person here. Help me do the play by play.
ReplyDeleteGood sized Akita
ReplyDeleteThis Malamute has done its share of winning
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't the Anatolian Shepherd in the herding group
