we are expecting for the show dog poop coverage
ReplyDeletewe can´t access to american tv
saludos from south america
Welcome! We have been doing breed coverage and we will be doing commentary on the group. So stay right here.
ReplyDeleteVisit the Westminster site for detailed results and a marked catalog.
ReplyDeleteThat's http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org/
ReplyDeleteI heard Andrew Doyle fell and is now on life support. Apparently this happend in home. Very sad!
ReplyDeleteThe Hound Group will be up first with Patricia Craige Trotter, teh Elkhound breeder, judging.
ReplyDeleteAny favorites in the Hound Group?
ReplyDeleteGo Sadie go!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd if it can't be you, Go Charmin Go!!!
From the Scottie News.
With Ouija absent and upsets in the PBGV and American Foxhound, the Harrier, Coda has a good shot at it. Look for the Basset and my dark horse the Afghan.
ReplyDeleteAnd we are off.
ReplyDeleteI love the beard on an Afghan
ReplyDeleteThe Afghans are so beautiful! I can't imagine trying to maintain that gorgeous coat though!
ReplyDeleteNothing moves like an Afghan. I had one I couldn't keep fenced. He could clear his eight foot kennel fence.
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Amanda. Nice of you to stop by.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea Billy! The harrier is a fabulous representative of the breed. The Bloodhound is also a beautiful dog. :)
ReplyDeleteMy Cairn is barking at the Coonhound. lol.
ReplyDeleteWow. That's one flashy Borzoi.
ReplyDeleteI like the Black and Tan
ReplyDeleteI heard this dog won the Central New Jersey Hound show this weekend (the longhair dachshund)
ReplyDeleteThis dog upset the number one Am Foxhound today
ReplyDeleteWow. Interesting. Nice stack there... Do the dogs seem a bit fidgety?
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I've talked with the owner of the B&T on a message board- go Mazzie! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteI watched the breed video for English Foxhounds and the dog was worse during the breed. Billy I was suprised when the number one American Foxhound got beat!
ReplyDeleteWelcome everyone. I'm glad you joined us. There have been some surprise today. Both the Foxhound and the PBGV were upsets, although the PBGV wasn't as much of an upset.
ReplyDeleteLook for the Greyhound in this half.
ReplyDeleteThanks Billy! I attended the AKC Open House yesterday with my dog's breeder and another woman with a dog from the breeder. We loved seeing the beautiful paintings and the library.
ReplyDeleteI met a judge (can't remember the name, shame on me) who bred the Afghan Tryst. I was just reading up on the story and it was amazing. The judge was so nice, so friendly and I am definitely new to the dog show world!
That's Taffe McFadden with the Greyhound
ReplyDeleteAhhh...Taffe with the Greyhound. Not quite the showdog as Spirit!
ReplyDeleteI love the harrier! Bring home a win!!!!
ReplyDeleteCoda is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe Harrier is such a stunning dog.
ReplyDeleteNote the lack of angulation in the Harrier. It's a breed characteristic
ReplyDeleteThis is a very nice wolfhound and a big winner
ReplyDeleteOh this is so fun. Thank you for all your hard work Billy... it is neat to recognize dogs from the Dog Show Poop top 10!
ReplyDeleteWhy is the handler wearing a hat?!
ReplyDeleteOne of our rarest breeds, the Otterhound
ReplyDeleteI'd be so nervous showing and Elkhound to Pat Trotter
ReplyDeleteLooks like the PBGV is a crowd favorite!
ReplyDeleteI mean that it a good way
ReplyDeleteI agree. They look like such happy dogs!
ReplyDeleteDo dogs tell Polish jokes?
ReplyDeleteLook how light that dog is on his feet.
ReplyDeleteI like the substance on this Saluki
ReplyDeleteCome on Harrier!
ReplyDeleteok, Billy...what's your guess for the ribbons?
ReplyDeleteI have Coda first, Basset second, PBGV third, and Afghan, fourth. Come on be brave, pick a favorite.
ReplyDeleteDisappointing to see the Ibizan Hound. A very poor representation of this beautiful breed. Nice gait on that Otter Hound! PBGV showed well, as usual!
ReplyDeletegreat cut
ReplyDeleteWOW!! That's a surprise!
ReplyDeleteWell, it was a great group! We sucked at picking winners but still great all around.
ReplyDeleteWell, I totally blew that one. I had heard that Pat really liked Ouija. Too bad she decided to pull.
ReplyDeleteThat was a total shocker.... WOW.
ReplyDeleteNot a surprise to me. Pat Trotter is known to like wire coats!
ReplyDeleteI am surprised that Taffe didn't make the cut/
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Pat Trotter thought that was Ouija?
ReplyDeleteShe left some nice dogs out of the cut, the Afghan, Greyhound etc.
I'm sure she knew it wasn't
ReplyDeletelol. No, Pat knows the difference.
ReplyDeleteUno, has been such a great ambassador for our support.
ReplyDeleteNice reception for the GI
ReplyDeleteAngel on a Leash program is awesome.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget we switch to CNBC on the hour.
ReplyDeleteIn the Terrier Group look to see whether Gabriel Rangel has the Scottie or the Westie.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Do you think that CNBC outbid USA or did USA opt to air the wrestling program??
ReplyDeleteWHERE IS THE SHOW???
ReplyDeleteMy Welsh Terrier pick decided to skip the show. They thought she was too young. Group Firsts at Palm spring and a BIS already. I think I would have brought her.
ReplyDeleteHowever, my Bedlington pick won the breed and she has a huge European following staying up to watch.
ReplyDeleteMy smooth Fox pick also on the breed. He is a youngster too.
ReplyDeleteThat smooth fox is nice
ReplyDeleteThat smooth fox is BEAUTIFUL! I had the chance to play with him a few weeks ago. A young boy.
ReplyDeletethe smooth fox is my favorite to terrier group
ReplyDeleteGabriel has the Scottie.
ReplyDeleteGuess Gabriel thinks Peter Green will like his Scottie!
ReplyDeleteVery Impressive!
ReplyDeleteIn your opinion do the exotic and newer breeds have an advantage over the older exstablished breeds?
ReplyDeleteThat was awkward.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this, Billy! At the end - could you name the winners (just breed will be ok) - I do not have cable and I am depending on you guys that are so lucky to be able to see the competition :-) Go Scottie :-)
ReplyDeleteI think that was one of the best things to ever happen...I'm so happy right now
ReplyDeleteI think that at other shows that might be gtrue. Judges like to be the first to put up a new breed BIS, but not here.
ReplyDeleteWhat was the conflict of interest about? At least they did win their breed!
ReplyDeleteNote that's a liver much more rare than the blue Bedlington
ReplyDeleteErnesto use to work for Peter and Ernesto I believe was taught pretty much everything he knows from Peter
ReplyDeleteAmber, the conflict was that the handler leased the judge's business from him.
ReplyDeleteGosh, another conflict!
ReplyDeleteOh come on with the conflicts, replace the judge!
ReplyDeletePeter will like that dog.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't this go back to the discussion some weeks ago that the judges are posted in advance and it's the handler's option to enter or not!
ReplyDeleteNewbie question! If there is a conflict would they not know that before they go into the ring? Is it to just give "props" that they won breed?
ReplyDeleteThanks Robin.
ReplyDeleteHey bill, Do to the delay when you say "that" dog we don't know "which" dog you are refering....
ReplyDeleteReplacing Peter Green is a not an easy task
ReplyDeleteWe covered the Sporting and Hound shows before Westminster, www.westminsterweekenddogshows.com, pretty impressive seeing some of the top dogs and handlers showing tonight that we saw this past weekend! We did an interview with this judge, Peter Green, you can view it here: http://tinyurl.com/cxrbcm
ReplyDeleteI don't thin they should have brought Lucas to the Group Ring. It appears to the novice that he tried to put one over on Peter.
ReplyDeleteI love the Glen Imal Terriers! They are great looking dogs.
ReplyDeleteBut if they can't represent their breed in the BOG then the runner-up should automatically get the chance!
ReplyDeleteThanks for that Katie. Who won those shows?
ReplyDeleteI will try tobe more specific. ;-)
ReplyDeleteNice moving Kerry Blue! Irish Terrier was also a nice dog.
ReplyDeleteFlatcoat won the Group on Thursday night - we saw the Foxhound and the Harrier that were in Hounds tonight, loved the Foxhound. You can watch all of the videos for free on our site. Lots of beautiful sporting dogs there this weekend, I can't pick a favorite! I have to say the English Setter that won BOB on Sunday was beautiful!
ReplyDeleteFrom the Newbie, that is a great point about the runner up getting the chance then to go. Why not change handlers? This is great Billy, what a way to learn the ropes!
ReplyDeleteWhy did they not just put different handlers on the Airdale and the Cairn. If the handler does not own the dog, it is not a conflict of interest with a different handler?
ReplyDeleteRE: the prior Group Winner that was the Scottish Deerhound, CH Gayleward's Tiger Woods
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Peter knows those two dogs so yes it may still be a conflict
ReplyDeletePeter has seen most of these dogs before. If there is a genuine conflict the dog should not be entered. If there is no conflict, then show the dog and let the gossips faint.
ReplyDeleteThe Pointer, Holly was not entered because of a perceived conflict. Same with the BIS winning Doberman, CJ
ReplyDeleteI agree, To disallow the breed to show in Best of Group is a diservice to the group and dilutes the show!
ReplyDeleteBesides at this level everyone knows everyone. There's no way you can avoid every confict.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to watch Peter judge, it will be fun to see what he does. So far I like the Lakey and the Mini bull.
ReplyDeleteThe Lakeland is one of my DOGS2WATCH
ReplyDeleteI love the coat on this Scottie.
ReplyDeletehellooo
ReplyDeletewho won the hound group?
Peter won this show with a Sealie
ReplyDeletethe Scottishe Deerhound, CH Gayleward's Tiger Woods
ReplyDeleteWe covered interviews with some prominent British owners/handlers/judges here! http://tinyurl.com/c9wydh
ReplyDeleteLOL my dog is sitting in front of the tv with her head cocked watching the dog show. Too cute.
ReplyDeleteMy Cairn barked at all the Hounds, but hasn't noticed any of the Terriers. You think she's a bigot?
ReplyDeleteThis is a NICE group. Wow!
ReplyDeleteI wish they would get back to a more natural look for the Westies.
ReplyDeleteI like the mini bull, smooth fox, glen of imal, soft coated wheaten
ReplyDeleteI say Sealie, Scottie, Lakeland, & Smooth Fox
ReplyDeleteShe's a nice one (the bull terrier)
ReplyDeletepoor Charmin :(
ReplyDeletesmall upset
ReplyDeleteThat's the 2008 number seven all breed dog, the Scottish Terrier, CH Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot, aka Sadie
ReplyDeleteVery small
ReplyDeleteThe Scottie looked great this evening. She had it all together!
ReplyDeleteWow, didn't see the last 2 coming.
ReplyDeleteAt least Ellie, the white bull, made the cut. This was a strong group of dogs in my opinion. Would have been nice to see Charmin win the group 1 but it could have gone to anyone in that cut.
ReplyDeleteI like the way Peter went back and pulled the Scottie & Sealie almost as an after thought! Keep the tension going!
ReplyDeleteDo we have any Non-Sporting folks in the house? I only have one pick in this Group.
ReplyDeleteA bit off topic but has there been any PETA interference at the show itself?
ReplyDeleteI agree and I still don't see it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the vote of confidence on the welsh Billy! We just might bring her next year! And, I'll probably make the long trek down from Canada :-)
ReplyDeletePETA rarely delivers on their threats. If they didn't get free press for a month, they would disappear.
ReplyDeleteOur dog finally woke up to watch some of the show lol
ReplyDeleteHi, Larisa. Welcome.
ReplyDeleteWho won? Sadie the Scottie? Was Charmin number two?
ReplyDeleteNon-Sporting Group Judge is Charlotte Patterson from Destin FL.
ReplyDeleteSadie was first, Charmin second
ReplyDeleteThe Non-Sporting breed judging was full of upsets today
ReplyDeleteHow any judge can pick a best among this group is beyond me, has to be the hardest of the groups to judge
ReplyDeleteThe Bichon was a surprise winner, the number two Standard Poodle didn't even get an AOM today, two BIS winning Tibetan Terriers lost in the breed.
ReplyDeleteEither that's an exceptionally large handler or an exceptionally small Chow Chow
ReplyDeletethat was a nice dalmation
ReplyDeleteCan you extrapolate a little on the re-making of the groups?
ReplyDeleteMichael Brantley is very tall (Chow handler) and the Chow is a bitch, so smaller than we're probably used to seeing on the televised shows.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I don't know much about it. It used to be that everyone in the Group were perfectly happy to be there. After all there were fewer breeds and your shot at a group placement was pretty good. However, in recent years more and more of the new breeds were stuck in the Non-
ReplyDeleteSporting group, in part, because the other Groups didn't want them. Now there needs to be some realignment, but it remains contentious. Any one else want to jump in?
I think this poodle will be hard to beat
ReplyDeleteThe Miniature Poodle was bred by the handler, Kaz Hosaka, who handles the Toy Poodle, Walker.
ReplyDeleteYes is looking great.
ReplyDeleteSeems I heard him say something about a "spitz" group.....
ReplyDeletegorgeous shiba inu..can he pull an upset?
ReplyDeleteThere has been some movement toward a Nordic group of dogs.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone beats Yes, the Standard Poodle, it will be an upset.
ReplyDeletepoodles are stiff competition
ReplyDeleteInterseting, then the samoyed and husky, and malumutes would get pulled from the working group?
ReplyDeleteOK, I will go as far as Yes, first, but after that I am at a loss.Maybe the Bulldog, a local favorite and a BIS winning bitch.
ReplyDeleteSo far I like the Bulldog, with my friend Phoebe, the Dal and the Mini Poodle
ReplyDeleteI think YES will get it.
ReplyDeletegawd no, not another poodle......
ReplyDeleteStandard Poodle, Yes, wins it.
ReplyDeleteYes is nice but I'm suprised Kaz didnt get anything
ReplyDeleteand deservingly so!
ReplyDeleteI really wish they would show the standards with a field cut......
ReplyDeleteYes was stunning tonight.
ReplyDeleteRick, I'm talking out of school here, because I have not talked to anyone who is involved in the process, but that's the whole problem. Them that has don't want to give it up. I don't see the Sammie, Siberiam, Malamute folks saying, "Oh, sure let's leave the home we've had for 80 years."
ReplyDeleteProposed new groups starts on page 12 of this PDF:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.akc.org/pdfs/about/board_minutes/1008.pdf
a good big poodle is an awesome animal. They are elegant, athletic, and very, very smart. Yes is a very good one.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amber, I'll take a look at that. I've heard it's going to happen.
ReplyDeleteKatie - you made a comment about the English Setter that won on Sunday. Do you know what English Setter it was? I am trying to find out if Aritzoe's High Caliber won at either of the specialties, or the shows this weekend? Anyone know?
ReplyDeleteI wonder why Jimmy Moses was not there?
ReplyDeleteJJ SAYS THIS IS GREAT THIS IS UNREAL FRONT ROLL SEATS
ReplyDeleteIf the judge has been in GSD for 30 years, he has to know Jimmy.
ReplyDeleteI was told that he was going with his assistant and then was suprised when I saw him absent
ReplyDeleteSo a conflict of interest with Jimmy?
ReplyDeleteDon't know, but Jimmy was one of the few handlers entered who has won Westminster,
ReplyDeletethe border collie was nice
ReplyDeleteThis is a very nice Bouvier
ReplyDeleteThe australian sheperd was fantastic...btw thanks alot for the link on the grouping changes!
ReplyDeleteso are these changes really going into affect?
ReplyDeleteOne has to wonder how many of these dogs we are seeing are fed pedigree ;)
ReplyDeletethats not SAX is it?
ReplyDeleteIn the first half I liked the Beardie, the Border and the Bouvier.
ReplyDeleteWhere was Sax's female handler?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - English Setters BOB on Sunday Final Cut - http://westminsterweekenddogshows.com/videos/english-setter-best-breed-final-cut-feb-8th
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dog!
I saw her ad in the Westminster Dog News... awesome dog!
That is Sax
ReplyDeleteThis lady has had a lot of OES at the Garden
ReplyDeleteThis is the dog that beat Carly
ReplyDeleteWow, upset in the Pembrokes? I would have expected Shelton's Corgi to be the BOB winner.
ReplyDeleteThe Puli is definitely a contender
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice sheltie!
ReplyDeletePuli definately had charisma!
ReplyDeleteLove the Sheltie!
ReplyDeletenice sheltie but i think the puli will win
ReplyDeleteI'm going Puli, Rough Collie, Bouvier, and OES
ReplyDeleteI think it will be the OES or the Puli. The Beardie should get a placement.
ReplyDeleteThe Briard is a terrific mover.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Briard...it should have had something but I agree with the Puli
ReplyDeleteI'm going to faint. lol
ReplyDeletePuli should have had Group 2, Corgi should have won
ReplyDeletePretty dam close Billy
ReplyDelete
