Friday was Hump Day in Wildwood NJ where the Sand and Sea
Kennel Club had the day three show at the five show Atlantic Ocean Cluster. Judge Rita Holloway did not have a camel
among her seven finalists, but she did have an Afghan Hound, GCH CH Exlysta
Aries Ciel Noir. She named the Afghan,
Ryder, her Best In Show and the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Rinchen’s Blazing Black
Icon, as her Reserve Best In Show.

Also vying for her attention were the English Springer
Spaniel, CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret,
the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Crispy Legacy, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash Jp
Beauty & Beat, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Devinwood A Perfect Stranger.
One of the most competitive breeds at Westminster will be
Afghan Hounds, with at least three BIS winners competing. Ryder, who finished 2013 as the Number Six
Hound with ten BIS and 43 Hound Groups, has one BIS, one RBIS, and three Hound
Group Firsts, so far this year. Congratulations to breeders/owners Perry Rooks &
Christine Anderson-Smith, owner/handler Phil Schafmayer, and owner Sharon Ferraro.
