CH Donnchada Sweet DreamsFriday the Panhandle Kennel Club Of Texas asked Tomas Gomez to choose his favorite from the Golden Retriever, CH Toasty's Treasure Island, the Petit Bassett Griffon Vendeen, CH Afterglow's Ebeneezer, the Newfoundland, CH Bifrost's Gust O'Boradaile, the Norwich Terrier, CH Skyscot's Poker Chip, the Havanese, CH Gingerbred Yukon Jack Desiderio, the Standard Poodle, CH Donnchada Sweet Dreams, and the Rough Collie, CH Sylvan Argent Simply Irresistible.
His BIS was the White Standard Poodle, Patsy. That’s number five this year for Patsy, who leads the variety in breed points, though she ranks fourth in all breed points. Congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Elizabeth Brown, co-breeder Luis Sosa, and co-owners Nicole Baldwin & Jacquelyn Cohen.
CH Toasty's Treasure IslandSaturday, the Clovis Portales Kennel Club took over with Col Joe B Purkhiser in the final ring. The the Golden & the PBGV would be the only repeat visitors to the last ring. They were joined by Boxer, CH Hilltop's Lay It On Me, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Soldier Of Fortune, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Orchard Hill Shirmont Backtalk, the Chinese Shar-Pei, CH Gutheries How Sweet It Is, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, CH Heart Of Gold Power Play. It was the nation’s number four dog, the Golden, Treasure, getting yet another BIS. For those of you wondering, Treasure did not compete in the Best Of Breed Competition at this past week’s National Specialty because her owner, Pam Oxenberg, was judging the Sweepstakes.

Sunday, Lenora Riddle closed it out with Treasure, the aforementioned PBGV, the Rottweiler, CH Pfeffer-Schloss On The Town, Thursday’s BIS winner, the Norwich Terrier, CH Skyscots Poker Ship, the Papillon, CH Arkeno's Ears To You, the Standard Poodle, Patsy, and the above named Rough Collie. The heavy silver went to the multi-titled (UD, CDX, CD, CGC, RE, RA, RN, SS, SWETT, WETT, TDI, TT) Rottweiler, Turbo. The four year old was a 2008 inductee to the Texas Veterinary Medical Association Animal Hall of Fame for his therapy work. Congratulations to breeders Jan & Terry Kerrigan and owner Patricia Crawford.
Then how could Treasure compete in the Top Twenty? Isn't that also part of the National?

ReplyDeleteThe Top Twenty is NOT a GRCA event; it is hosted by the Golden Retriever Foundation (GRF), an organization that raises money for GR health research. It is held in conjunction with the national, therefore it is open to any of the dogs in the top 20. A dog is exhibited only under the FEO status if it's owner or breeder is on the judging panel of the Top 20.
