James Fredericksen was in Vallejo CA for today’s San Mateo Kennel Club show, the first of four shows in the Vintage Cluster, an homage to the nearby Wine Country.

The seven dogs he saw were the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade's Pay It Forward, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Vin-Melca's The Norseman, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Windhaven She's The Real Cruz-Penelope, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, the Havanese, GCH CH Oeste’s Flit’n with an Outlaw, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Penndragon Owain, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Take Aim's Playing For Gryffindor.

Best went to the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Wire Fox, Sky, while the Reserve, went to the Havanese, Feliz.  Sky continues to extend her lead over the field with her 11^th big rosette of the year.

RALEIGH NC DAY TWO

GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm

The Alamance Kennel Club took over on day two in Raleigh NC  and put Carl Gene Liepmann in the final ring with the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Yarrow Venerie Ticket To Ride, the Pug, GCH CH Hill country Tag I’m It, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Overtops And The Winner Is, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar.

His Best was 2012’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the GWP, Oakley.  His RBIS was this year’s Number Four Dog, the Portie, Matisse.  Oakley and handler Phil Booth have ten BIS this year, good enough to make Oakley the current Number Three Dog All Breeds.

Our show week go underway today in Raleigh NC with the Cary Kennel Club’s opener for the Tarheel Cluster, a remarkable show of canine cooperation among five separate clubs.

Today’s final fell to Dr Klaus Anselm who chose his top two from a powerhouse seven, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the 15” Beagle, CH Tashtins Lookin for Trouble, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Yarrow Venerie Ticket To Ride, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It, the French Bulldog, CH LeBull’s El Morroco at LeCirque, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar.

Taking home the week’s first points was the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Allie.  Getting the Reserve was the GWP, Oakley.  Allie has been the country’s  Number One Pembroke these past two years finishing 2012 with six BIS and 45 Herding groups.  Today, however, was her first BIS in 11 final appearances this year Congratulations to breeder/owner Bill Shelton, co-breeders Kerry Kirtley, S Leyerly and B Williams, owner Alex Geremia, and handler Jenny Wornall Rangel.

GCH CH Whistle Stop's Wind on the Water

Our last report from the past week comes in from southern California and the Del Sur Kennel Club.  On Saturday in Valley Center CA  Dr Anthony DiNardo gathered the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistle Stop's Wind on the Water, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wallstreet, the Akita, GCH CH Ruthdale’s Candy From A Baby, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH WeDigit Paparazzi, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, the Standard Poodle, MYS Enchantment, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Wigglesworth Thriller.

Best went to the  IWS, Bella, and Reserve went to the Smooth Fox, Paparazzi.  With this win Bella becomes the third of her litter to win a BIS.  The other two are her litter sisters, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Rile on Fire and GCH CH Whistlestop’s Fire and Ice.  A litter brother, CH Whistlestop’s Elements of Magic CD RN, just took the breed and Challenge Certificate at Crufts.  That’s what we call sibling rivalry.  Big congratulations to breeders Colleen McDaniel & Stacy Duncan, owner Michelle Cuummings, and handler Amy Rutherford.

Sunday Bella would be back with the above named Afghan & Akita, to see BIS judge Pat Trotter.  They were joined by the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Brookehaven’s Solo Dapper-Rapper, the Pug, CH Kirby's Just Say The Word, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Penndragon Owain, and the Canaan Dog, GCH CH Pleasant Hill Magnum Of Samara.

Judge Trotter would go with the white Standard Poodle, Owain, and the Akita, Candy.   It’s the first of the year for Owain and handler Kim Russell.  Congratulations to Kim, and breeders/owners Rick & Kim Bates.

TWO DAYS IN HOUSTON TX

One place we have not visited this week is Houston TX where the hometown kennel club & the Galveston County Kennel Club hosted two shows this past weekend.  Saturday’s final had Col Joe Purkhiser in the final ring with the Irish Setter, GCH CH Militza's Glamorous Attire, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Caymus, the Doberman Pinscher, Horizon's Viva Las Vegas, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Fortune Forward, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Lohona Zephyr I Can't Look Away, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Harmony Hills Money Talks.

His BIS was the Irish Setter, Ty, and his RBIS was the Greyhound, Caymus.  It’s the first BIS of the year for TY and handler David Harper.  Congratulations to David, breeders/owners Roger & Tracy McNeal & Kenneth Wall & Dr Joel Fisher DVM, co-breeder N Godbey, and owners Bruce & Mary Foote..

GCH CH Jade East Do You Know The Way To San Jose

Sunday the GCKC took over and  gave BIS judge Sonny Ambrosio a mostly new seven, the English Springer Spaniel, Hil-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore Of Me, the Saluki, CH Issibaa's Goinforthe Gold, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby's Toast with Gusto, the Maltese, GCH CH Rhapsody N Cherub's Oh So Henry, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Jade East Do You Know The Way To San Jose, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Tails of Mystery.

Best went to the Shar-Pei, Jose, while the Saluki, Sammy, picked up the Reserve.  It’s Jose’s first BIS of 2013 in nine visits to the final ring.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Loretta Anders & Karel Nijholt & Esmae Minne, and handler David Williams.
