Our last report from the past weekend is from Sunday’s Pensacola Dog Fanciers Association show in that Florida town.  Read about the previous three days here.

The seven dogs that judge Col Joe Purkhiser considered were the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, GCH CH Bear Hug Fire In The Hole JH, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Caymus, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Tiburon Arsenal, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Major League's Silver Slugger, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing’s Tenzin, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Traveler’s Pierce Arrow.

The two he chose were his BIS, the Pug, JJ, and his RBIS, the Greyhound, Caymus.  It was JJ’s second of the set and his third this year.

DETROIT KC DAY TWO

The biggest points east of the Rockies this weekend were in Detroit where the hometown kennel club hosted two shows.  You can read about Saturday’s event here.  Sunday the seven dogs that stayed all day to see BIS judge Sari Brewster Tietjen were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summits Emery It's In The Bag, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Yarrow Venerie Ticket to Ride, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Pem We-Syng Lucky Mi, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Bret D N Engine Co To The Rescue, and the Bouvier des Flandres, Stonepillar's Steel Blu.

Taking home all the points was the Chin, Mimi, while the Dal, Tilley got the Reserve ribbon & photo op.  It’s the second of the year and the 17^th career BIS for the winningest Japanese Chin in AKC history. 

TWO IN WICHITA FALLS

Texas exhibitors were in Wichita Falls TX this weekend for the Faith City Kennel Club Of Wichita Falls two shows.  Saturday’s final was in the hands of Gloria Geringer.  Her seven hopefuls were the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Silverlakes Tattinger Millesime, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Faouziah's Faramir, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen’s Harvard, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Fortune Forward, the Papillon, GCH CH Involvo The King of Pop, the Bulldog, GCH CH Mytoys Epic Against The Wind, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Harmony Hills Money Talks.

The two she liked were her BIS, the Lakeland, Dru, and the Giant, Harvard.  It’s the first this year for the Lakeland in four final appearances.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Terrydale Kennels, Kathy McIndoe, Carol Dowd, Beth Dowd, & Cecilia Ruggles,  and handler Scott Sommer.

Dru & Harvard would be the only two of Saturday’s finalists to make it back to Jan Paulk’s final on Sunday.  They were joined by the Irish Setter, CH Jadestar Rifleman, the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno, the King Charles & Ruby English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh.

Her top two were the Corgi, Coco, and the Bichon, Bingo.  Coco had one BIS and one Herding Group in 2012.  Sunday’s win was her first BIS of the year in two final appearances.  Gonna be a good year.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Deb Shindle & Julie & Bill Divens, owner Dina Planche and handler Lois Demers.

Our show week ended Monday in Scottsdale AZ where the Superstition Kennel Club and the Scottsdale Dog Fanciers Association hosted four shows this past weekend.  Two dogs dominated the set gathering up all the big rosettes in a game of leap frog through the four days.  We told youalready that the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, took the SKC’s opener on Friday, while the Old English Sheepdog, CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, grabbed the RBIS.

On Saturday Bart Miller would prefer the OES, Swagger to the Wire, Sky, whom he liked better than the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration with Traddles, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH Loriendells Sword Of Elendil, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Miletree Northern Star at Shirmont, or the Bulldog, GCH CH E Clive´s Witchful Thinking.

Sunday Edd Bivin would see it the other way round, choosing Sky over Swagger.  Rounding out his final were the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH E Clive´s Witchful Thinking, the above named Harrier, the Akita, GCH CH Ruthdale's Candy From A Baby, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Loujon Backroads to Paris, and the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious Hamitup Double Vision.

It was the ninth BIS in 28 final appearances for Sky, the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds.

GCH CH  Majenkir Bookstor Vintage Glamour

Sunday BIS judge Sulie Greendale-Paveza would put Swagger back on top and give the runner up spot to the Borzoi, GCH CH  Majenkir Bookstor Vintage Glamour.  On hand for the occasion were the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mountain View National Acclaim, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Raklyn's Talbot of Alisaton, the Norwich Terrier, CH Winsome's Aston Martin, the Affenpinscher, CH Tamrin Tarheel, and the Keeshond, GCH CH Summerwind's Rumor Has It.

The BIS wins were the first of the season for Swagger whose 2013 resume also includes two RBIS, including the first ever awarded by the Westminster Kennel Club, and three Herding Groups.  Not bad for three weeks’ work.  Our congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Colton Johnson and breeder/owner Heather Johnson.

GOOD THINGS IN SMALL PACKAGES

GCH CH Scylla Small Kraft Re-Lit

The Tupelo Kennel Club   in Verona MS this weekend proved our belief that even small venue shows draw the most beautiful AKC dogs.  2012’s Number  three Toy Dog, the Maltese, GCH CH Scylla Small Kraft Re-Lit, was Thomas Kilcullen’s Best In Show on Saturday.

Hank and breeder/owner/handler Tara Martin Rowell, were challenged by the Parti-Colored Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Conquest's This Is It!, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Sweetgrass Johann Tipper, the Boxer, GCH CH Ho-Pa's Grand Slam, the Miniature Schnauzer, CH Legend's B-B-B Bad To The Bone, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Glenleigh Gang's 'N Roses, and judge Kilcullen’s Reserve, the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy.

Hank finished 2012 with 12 BIS and 55 Toy Groups.  Saturday’s win was Hank’s first BIS of 2013 in five final appearances.  Congratulations to Tara, co-breeder Vicki Abbot, and owners Debbie Burke & Ron Scott.

Sunday Hank and Tara were back to see BIS judge Dr Anne Gallant along with the above named Cocker & Boxer, the Redbone Coonhound, GCH CH Sidearm Jungle King Mufasa, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Sayo's Jai Ho, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Puli, CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

The Dr Gallant’s top two were the Poodle, Flame, and the Puli, Charlotte.  It’s Flame’s second BIS in the last two weekends and her third of the year.
