GCH CH Cragsmoor Goodtime Charlie 

 In the Northeast this week the doggy action was in Edison NJ where the Bronx County Kennel Club finished up the three day visit with judge Inge Semenschin’s final. Her seven hopefuls were the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Newfoundland, CH Cypress Bay’s Big Sur, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Goodtime Charlie, the Japanese Chin, CH Touche’s Top Hat And Tails At Samsaka, the Standard Poodle, Hillwood Dassin Poopin Up Roses, and the Bearded Collie, CH Fantasia’s Joanna’s Gift.

Finishing one/two were the Skye, Charlie, and the Bloodhound, Nathan. Charlie is AKC’s Number One Terrier six BIS and 24 Terrier Groups.

We turn our attention now to the West Coast where the northern shore of San Francisco Bay was the place you could find some of AKC’s top dogs this week.  Judge Anne Katona closed the four day set with the Oakland Kennel Club’s Sunday final.

The seven dogs that stayed to the end to see her were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Simpatico Equal Justice, the Basenji, GCH CH Jasiri-Sukari Win Tin Tin, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Chancellor’s High Flyin’ Gladiator, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Talk of the Town, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Sharbelle Greg-Mar International Boy, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline’s Unit of Measure, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

Collecting his second top prize of the stop was the OES, Swagger. The Keeshond, Cubit, added an RBIS to the BIS he won at Thursday’s opener.  It was Swagger’s 17^th BIS in 34 trips to the final ring this year.  The win puts Swagger within 900 points of the game leader, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse.

Our next stop is Fort Worth TX where the Fort Worth Kennel Club wrapped their two day stop with James Noe in the final ring with the Golden Retriever, GCH CH. Emery’s In The Midnight Hour, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wallstreet, the Mastiff, GCH CH Willow Ridge Risky Business, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Brocair’s HRH Prince Harry, the King Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Moon River.

The Lakeland, Harry, strutted off with the Best In Show while the Toy Spaniel, Prosperity, collected the Reserve award. It was the first BIS and first Terrier Group for 21 month old Harry. Congratulations to breeders Marcella Mitchell & Danielle Green, owners Kevin & Lisa Rogan, and handlers Ivonne & Gabriel Rangel.

Our Monday Morning Mop Up begins with the Jackson Tennessee Dog Fanciers Association who closed the four day set in their hometown with their show Sunday.

Judge David Kirkland had the BIS honors and his pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Pouch Coves Seabrook Enough Said, the Scottish Terrier, CH Peabar Goodness Gracious, the Pug, GCH CH Capers Sirius Endeavor, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, CH Kosar Striking Back Of Bridgelady. 

Judge Kirkland went with the Poodle, Flame, as his BIS and the Newfoundland, Jordan, as his RBIS. It was the second consecutive BIS for Flame and handler Sarah Perchick and their tenth of the year.

The Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, added another BIS to his record seeking resume today, taking the top prize at the Fayetteville Kennel Club show in Raleigh NC.

Joining Matisse in Betty Regina Leininger’s final were the English Cocker Spaniel, CH Edgewood First'N Foremost, the 15” Beagle, CH Tashtins Lookin For Trouble, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s To Russia With Love, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Chinese Shar-Pei, CH Jade East Mission Into Space, and her RBIS, the German Shepherd Dog, CH Woodside’s Megabucks. 

Matisse heads home with four of the five BIS from this week’s Tarheel Cluster, bringing his 2014 resume to 28 BIS and 37 Working Groups. Matisse needs just one more BIS to tie the Working group record of 124 BIS set by the Doberman Pinscher, CH Brunswig’s Cryptonite.

Judge Marilyn Spacht had the final at Saturday’s Peninsula Dog Fanciers Association show and her pick of the Weimaraner, GCH CH Diamond MK The Eagle Has Landed, the 15” Beagle,. GCH CH Foxtail’s Race For The Chase, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Peace River’s Gathers No Moss at Sunstra, the Bedlington Terrier, GCH CH First Class Willow Wind The Phoenix, the Havanese, GCH CH Peluito’s Papi Chulo, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Absolute’s Affinity Agape Bullet Proof, and the Belgian Tervuren, GCH CH Sky Acres Maximum Altitude.

West Coast exhibitors had their choice of shows in the San Francisco Bay area town of Vallejo or in Bremerton WA, a 16 mile ferry ride from Seattle. It was the Oakland Kennel Club hosting Saturday in Vallejo and judge John Wade commanding the final ring. GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect The seven dogs hoping for the big points were the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Blazen Spellbound’s Wonder Woman, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH X’Plorer’s Destiny Done It, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo’s Continuation of a Myth, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Talk of the Town, the Maltese, GCH CH Richelieu Valentino, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline’s Unit of Measure, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

Best went to the Smooth Fox, Taylor, Reserve to the OES, Swagger. Taylor has only been shown sporadically these past two years, but has still collected two BIS and ten Terrier Groups this year, good enough to make Taylor this year’s Number Four Terrier.

FORTWORTH KC DAY ONE

CH Reverie Cameo 

Texas does everything big and Saturday’s Fort Worth Kennel Club was no exception, boasting over 2000 entries. Judge Anne Savory Bolus chose her top two from the Parti-Color Cocker Spaniel , CH Monthaven’s The Birdcage, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wallstreet, the Siberian Husky, CH Antara’s Nothing to Sneeze At, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Brocairs HRH Prince Harry, the King Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH R-Lee Sparkle Plenty, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Reverie Cameo.

Finishing one/two were the Aussie, Cameo, and the Toy Spaniel, Prosperity. It’s the first BIS for the two year old bitch. Congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Leon Goetz and co-breeder Mary Ann Magness.

There were more than 2000 dogs entered at Saturday’s New Brunswick Kennel Club show in Edison NJ. The seven who made it to Bruce Schwartz final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Sentinel, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess, the Siberian Husky, CH Davik’s Snowstorm Gussit, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tsao, the Bichon Frise, CH Cher Ami's Toast With Remy Martin, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical's My Turn CGC CGN HIC.

Going to the head of the line was the Bloodhound, Nathan. Following close behind was the Skye, Charlie. Nathan is the country’s Number One Hound with three BIS and 13 Hound Groups.

The hometown Jackson Tennessee Dog Fanciers Association had the favored Saturday spot in the four show set and judge Betty-Anne Stenmark had a spectacular seven from which to choose her BIS & RBIS. They were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Otterhound, GCH CH Aberdeen’s Under The Influence, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Pouch Cove’s Seabrook Enough Said, the Scottish Terrier, CH Peabar Goodness Gracious, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Daybar For Your Eyes Only. 

GCH CH Telltale American Ride 

 Her Best was the Poodle, Flame, and her Reserve was the Springer, Randy. Flame is the nation’s Number One Non-Sporting Dog and Number Four Dog All Breeds with nine BIS and 24 Non-Sporting Groups.
