ANOTHER POODLE HITS 100

For the past three seasons we have enjoyed and written about the rivalry between the black Standard Poodle dog, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the white Standard Poodle bitch, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore.  The two are very different interpretations of the standard, but both correct and beautiful.  The bitch, Ally, is refined and elegant with a distinctly feminine face.  The dog, London, is imposing and strong with a head that was aptly described as the definition of “poodlely”.

We told you yesterday about London’s 100^th BIS.  We are delighted to report that Ally said “ditto” Sunday at the Flagstaff Kennel Club day two show in that Arizona city.  Ally reached the century mark with a flourish posting back2back BIS, taking both Saturday’s & Sunday’s top prizes.  Ally and handler Tim Brazier were joined in Sara Futh’s final by her Reserve winner, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Loma’s Rhinestone Cowboy Of Rott’n Acre’s CD R, the Pointer, CH Solivia’s Decadence Of Beagood, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Dytona VIP, the Pug, GCH CH Winsome-Nirvana-Blaque Triple Play, and the Bouvier, GCH CH Delux Jumpin’ Jack Flash.

Sunday George Boulton would prefer Ally to his RBIS, the Basenji, GCH CH Jasiri-Sukari Win Tin Tin, whom he would prefer to the above named Pointer, Mini Bull, & Pug, and the Rottweiler, GCH CH Baar None v Qualicum CDX, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Traveler’s Pierce Arrow.

Ally and London did not meet frequently in the show ring, but spectators at this year’s Westminster Kennel Club show will remember seeing Ally win the breed and go on to a Group Two…all in all, a glorious career for a very special dog.  Congratulations to Tim, breeders L'Dyne Wicker Brennan & Debra Ferguson Jones, and owners Toni Sosnoff & Martin Sosnoff.

We lived through the Summer of Love once.  It’s nice to know we can do it again every June in Vallejo CA with the Lake County Kennel Club and the Contra Costa County Kennel Club four show cluster, Woofstock.

The CCCKC closed the doggy love-in with James Reynolds in the final ring with an all-star seven, the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Dogwdcreek's La Vita E Belle, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quietcreek’s Kiss and Tell, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Kenro’s Witching Hour, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Victory Spencer, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

Getting the big, big BIS was the OES wunderkind, Swagger.  Getting the RBIS was yesterday’s BIS winner, the Giant, Dora.  Swagger is the Number One Herding Dog.  He started the week as the Number 12 Dog All Breeds.  This weekend will put him at the top with the big boys, Number Ten Dog All Breeds.

Before we head over to the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo CA for the final day of Woofstock, we want to tell you about the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, major milestone. 

London and handler Anne Rairigh were in Wheaton IL for the hometown Wheaton Kennel Club’s show on Saturday.  BIS judge Norm Patton gave London his 100^th career BIS.  On hand for the occasion were the Welsh Springer Spaniel, CH Clussexx Win’Throp Loves Springtime, the Longhaired dachshund, GCH CH Hundeleben Queens Armada SL, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Ramahills Absolutes I Am Legend Of RW, judge Patton’s RBIS, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH True Blue Madonna, the Papillon, CH Wingssong Here We Go Again, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Wisechoice Hercule Poirot.

Among the highlights of London’s career were the 2011 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship and the 2012 AKC/Eukanuba World Challenge title.  We had the opportunity to see London and Ann many times and their appearances in the show ring will forever be among our favorite memories.  Congratulations to Ann, breeders Sandra Tompkins & Chris Bailey, and owners Michele Molnar, & Jamie Danburg.

It was the end of the quintessential, postcard kind of  California day, today’s final at the Contra Costa County Kennel Club show in Vallejo CA, the third installment of Woofstock.   It was as much street festival as dog show with vendors hawking tie dyed tee shirts and peace symbol jewelry.  There were women and girls with flowers in their hair and men in bell bottoms and fringed vests.  Best of all there were the dogs.

The seven that Michele Billings considered were the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration with Traddles, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creek’s Kiss and Tell, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Kenro’s Witching Hour, the winner of the first two days, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Victory Spencer, the Bulldog,

It was the dog from Michigan, the Giant, Dora, denying the Wire Fox, Sky, three in a row.  Today, Sky would play bridesmaid and receive the Reserve award.  The 2141 payday would go to the country’s Number Six Dog All Breeds.  That’s nine for Dora, six in the last six weeks.
