MISSOURI RESULTS

They’ve completed three of four shows in Sullivan MO and th fourth is underway. While we wait for today’s results, we will tell you about the prior three days.

The Missouri Rhineland Kennel Club hosted the first two days. Friday, Terry Stacy had the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH EXL`s Leather-N Lace, the 15” Beagle, CH Jabrwoki`s A Canterbury Tail, the Boxer, CH Sabo`s Majestic Provocation, the Kerry Blue Terrier, CH TNT Major Player, the Pug, CH Tupelo Showboat Tu China Tu, the Dalmatian, CH Royalty`s Taylormade Call Me Sir, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Marquax`s Venture Capitol. BIS went to the 15” Beagle.

CH EXL`s Leather-N Lace

Saturday, the Beagle and Cocker would make it back to see Mildre Bryant. Her remaining five were the Rottweiler, CH Nighthawk`s Born For Highwood, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Tupwire Candy Man, the Shih Tzu, CH Symarun`s Look N Good, the French Bulldog, CH Robobuls Fablehaft I`m On Fire, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Kylene Eden The Dragonslayer. As previous reported her BIS winner was the Black Cocker, her eighth this year.

CH Desert`s She`s Everything

Sunday, the Three Rivers Kennel Club Of Missouri and William Dolan took over. Back one more time was the Cocker, the Wire Fox, and the Pug, along with the Bloodhound, CH Ghost Hollow Spectacular Bid, the Boxer, CH Desert`s She`s Everything, the Dalmatian, CH Royalty`s Taylormade Call Me Sir, and the Old English Sheepdog, CH Saxen Farm`s Prizeworthy. BIS was the Boxer, Paisley, her first this year. Congratulations to breeder/owner Ginger Bice.

GUMBO, GAMBLING, & DOGS

Biloxi, Mississippi, just down the coast from New Orleans, is best know for gumbo and gambling. However for the past four days it has been a dog’s life.

Bretica Man With The Big Cigar

We did give you some results over the weekend. We gave you a full report on the Singing River Kennel Club Of Mississippi day one show and now we can tell you that Dr Steve Keating’s BIS lineup on Friday included the Irish Setter, CH Vineyard's Bad Boy, the Whippet, Bretica Man With The Big Cigar, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Phillmar Sobe Monster, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Commander's Strike For Independence, the Shih Tzu, CH Krissy's Dream Lover, the Lhasa Apso, CH Rushmar's Charmer, and the Rough Collie, CH Sylvan Argent Simply Irresistible. His BIS was the Canadian bred Whippet, Migual, coming out of the classes to win his first American BIS.

We did tell you that the Pekingese, CH Franshaw Hear Me Roar, was Jay Richardson’s BIS on day one of the Mobile Kennel Club. Her’s the rest of the lineup, Friday’s Irish Setter, Doberman, Wire Fox, Collir, the Saluki, DC Shahtani Ivory Moon SC, and the Bulldog, CH Millcoats Pilgrim's WJ. Sunday Mrs. Lee Canalizo saw the Irish Setter, Peke, Lhasa, & Collie repeat their appearances. She also had the Wirehaired Dachshund, CH Rivendell Dark Side Of The Moon SW, the Alaskan Malamute, CH Sno Klassic Play The Game, and the multi titled Bedlington Terrier, CH Sangeo Farscape CD RA MX MXJ OF OAJ OJP OFP JE. It was the fourth final of the week for the Rough Collie, Sax, and her tenacity paid off with her twelfth BIS and 81st group firsts, both records for the breed.

WANDERING THROUGH PENNSYLVANIA

This was a busy week and though we did bring you several reports over the weekend there are lots we missed. In Region One, the Northeast Region, we had shows in Cape Cod and Pennsylvania. We gave you complete reports on the former. Here’s what we have on the latter. The PA shows started on Thursday in Gilbert with day one of the Pocono Kennel Club. You may remember we told you that show went to the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Rokeena Carte Blanche.

CH Wassong Djebel Of Lollipop

On day two, the judge was Judy Harrington and the finalists were the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Star K’S Mile Hi Valentine, the aforementioned PBGV, CeeJay, the Newfoundland, CH Bear N Mind’s The Guardian, the Airedale, CH Stirling Cool Hand Luke, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, CH South Fork’s Go For Broke, the Tibetan Spaniel, CH Wassong Djebel Of Lollipop, and the Briard, CH Deju Vu Up Close & Personal. Her BIS was the Tibetan Spanel, Djebel. It was the third big rosetter this year for the nation’s number one Tibetan Spaniel.

On Saturday, everyone moved to Kempton for the Lehigh Valley Kennel Club’s show. The only Friday finalist to make Carolyn Tomas’ final was the Airedale, Lucas. Her remaining six were the Irish Setter, CH Shadagee Caught Red Handed, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Of Afrikka Spring Valley Dorian Gray JC, the Doberman Pinscher, Ravenswood WinstonSpecial V Tangiss, the Keeshonden, CH Trumpet’s Shoot To Thrill, and the Shetland Sheepdog, Pashwoods Mountain Laurel. Lucas’ determination paid off with the BIS, the sixth this year for the country’s number one Airedale.

Sunday, they broke camp and relocated to Kutztown for the Berks County Kennel Club’s offering. Dr John Reeve-Newson saw Saturday finalist, the Irish Setter, Emily, Thursday BIS winner, the PBGV, CeeJay, Friday BIS winner & Friday finalist and Saturday BIS winner, the Airedale, Lucas, the Bernese Mountain Dog, Blumoon Tanzenite V Blackrock, the Miniature Pinscher, Merrywood’s Jersey Girl, the Schipperke, CH Aned’s LeRocher Noir, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Ryslip History Boy. BIS went to the red hot Irish Setter, Emily. That’s number two this year for Emily.

From Salina KS we hear that the Boxer, CH Bravo N Sunset’s Stealing Time, was judge James White's choice for Best In Show at today‘s Wichita Kennel Club show. It was BIS number three for Sherman this year.

MANITOWOC COUNTY RESULTS

We usually have to wait till mid week to give you results form Wisconsin, but thanks to a reader we have this report on the Manitowoc County Kennel Club.

Saturday, it was judge Sue-Ellyn Rempel and the Brittany, CH Melridge Stir N' It Up, the Whippet, CH Kamada's Instant Millionaire, the Newfoundland, CH Skipper's Eminence King of Helluland, the Norwich Terrier, CH Huntwoods"s Joy Ride of Moorcraft, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Appealing Sir Robert, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Ri Lee Diamond Heirloom, and the Puli, CH Bubbleton Bedazzled. BIS went to the Whippet, Ollie, bred & owned by Debbie and Kathleen Davenport and handled by Debbie. We think this might be Ollie’s first all breed BIS. Congratulations to Debbie & Kathleen.

Sunday, Lorraine Boutwell took over and chose her Best from the same Newfoundland, Norwich, Tibetan Terrier, the Field Spaniel, CH W-Haven's Traces Of Gold , the American Foxhound, CH Kiarry’s Foolish Pride, the Brussels Griffon, CH Knolland's Little Devon O Luna, and the Old English Sheepdog, CH Barkshire's Notorious . BIS went to the persistent Tibertan, Maddie, her first this year. Congratulations to breeder.owner/handler Nikki Kinziger.

PETA ALERT!

One footnote from the San Rafael. The Sir Feancis Drake Kennel Club asks that all concerned dog owners listen to the Ron Owens radio show on San Francisco KGO tomorrow between 9:00 AM & 12:00 noon tomorrow.


Among his guests will be representatives from People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) who will be peddling their special brand of social engineering by promoting California SB250, the so called Pet Responsibility Act, which will be a severe infringement on dog lovers. Feel free to us my favorite talking points against anti breeder/dog owner legislation:

• This bill will costs jobs. If there are fewer animals sold in California, there will be jobs lost in the lucrative pet supplies/support market, a $45B industry that has thus far been recession proof. The pet industry in California employs people at pet supply stores, boarding kennels, and grooming shops, small jobs in a segment of the labor force most hard hit by current economic problems.
• This bill will not be self funding. San Mateo County California has had such laws for over 20 years and they have not had one self funding year. The proponents of this law have mislead you on this point.
• This bill will have a detrimental effect on many of our rarest breeds. Thirty of the AKC registered breeds have less than 200 registrations nationally each year, making these breeds more endangered than Polar Bears, Lowland Gorillas, or Grey Whales, none of which are kept by the typical Californian. The American Foxhound, a breed developed by George Washington, and symbolic of our nation’s beginnings had only 51 registered.
• This bill is another unnecessary intrusion into American’s homes. Are you aware that 63 percent of American households keep pets?
• PETA is an extremist fringe group whose aim is to eliminate all ownership of pets. Visit their web site and see if you share their beliefs such and then tell you favorite media outlet to stop giving them free publicity.

We have an exhibitor’s report from the Sir Francis Drake Kennel Club in San Rafael CA that Carl Gomes has chosen the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Paray Cirque Du Soleil, as his Best In Show.

Also looking for the BIS were the Irish Setter, CH Greengate Buzz Lightyear, the Basenji, CH Jasiri-Sukari Just Sprite JC, the Mastiff, CH Southports Ulysses S Grant, yesterday’s BIS winner, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Slyfox Sneeks A Peek, the Brusels Griffon, CH Cashin’s Walk The Line, and the Bichon Frise, CH Mybliss Petite Coquette.

It was the second BIS this year for Cirque, bred by Tray Pittman, Paul Flores & Mark Hersman, owned by Tray, Joann Wixson & D Ann Clabby, and expertly handled by Tray. Congratulations to them all.

We’ve just heard that the country’s number one Herding Dog, the Puli, CH Cordmaker Field Of Dreams has gone BIS at the Chattanooga Kennel Club today. It was Conrad’s 40th career Best. Conrad is currently the number three dog all breeds.

From the Kennel Club Of Niagara Falls (no Three Stooges jokes today) Kennel Club we hear that judge Susan St John Brown has chosen the Standard Poodle, CH Hillwood Dassin De-Lovely has walked away with the Best In Show today.

Left behind in the final ring were yesterday’s BIS winner, the Labrador Retreiver, CH Robnie’s Chantilly At Lighthouse, the Afghan Hound, CH Shenandoah Smoke And Mirrors, the Siberian Husky, CH Coventry’s Peace Negotiator, the Manchester Terrier, CH Mickalady's Hope U Dance, the Toy Poodle, CH Smash Jp Moon Walk, and the Puli, CH Moonshadow Rongyos Kis Medve.

Sissy sits atop of the Non-Sporting Group based on Group wins and is threatening to overtake the Bulldog, CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle in allbreed points. If it happens, we will be the first to tell you.

They wrapped it up today in Falmouth MA with the Cape Cod Kennel Club and Dorothy M. Macdonald judging BIS. The weather has been stormy in Falmouth and so has the competition. Among the dogs that did NOT make the final seven were the top twenty contenders, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Allure Blazing Star Alisaton (Group 3), the Bulldog, CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle (Group 2), and the Bearded Collie, CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins (Group 2).

Lining up for a last chance at a BIS were the Labrador Retriever, CH Casbar's Hart To Hart, the Otterhound, CH Scentasia’s Shake Rattle N Roll, the Boxer, CH Hi-Tech's Southern Belle, Thursday’s BIS winner, the Irish Terrier, CH Fleet St Fenway Fan, yesterday’s BIS winner, the Pekingese, CH Lin-Lee’s For The Good Times, the Dalmatian, CH Blackthorn’s Flower Power, and the Briard, CH Fairytales Balthazar LeSage.

It was the Peke picking up his second Best In Show in as many days. We will have to wait for the results from Bilox it see if this win will break the tie for most BIS by a Peke this year.
