MONDAY MOP UP, REGION TWO

We only had one show in Region Two, the Southeast Region, this weekend. That was in the Charlottesville VA where the Charlottesville - Albemarle Kennel Club held a par of shows.

Saturday, judge Mareth Kipp went over the Irish Wolfhound, CH Dun Myrica Speaker Of Eagle, the Siberian Husky, CH Kintiki’s A Bend In The Road, the West Highland White Terrier, CH Glennhaven's Danny Boy O' Donnybrook , the Toy Manchester Gterrier, CH Burmack’s Rosie V Evrmor, the French Bulldog, CH Diva’s Foreign Affair, and the Belgian Sheepdog, CH La Neige’s A Kodak Moment.

It was a big win for the big dog, the Wolfound, breeder/owner Sam Houston McDonald, co-breeder Samuel Evans Ewing III, and co-owner Joe M Roland.

Sunday, it was Molly Martin’s turn to make the call and she had the Irish Setter, CH Militza’s Starry Starry Nite, the Wolfhound, the Siberian, the Bedlington Terrier, CH Sudor Epoch Journey With Devonshire, the Shih Tzu, CH Krissy’s Dream Lover, the French Bulldog, Bandog’s Heart Of A Lion, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Shoal Creek’s Sangria V Barick.

Judge Martin went with the Irish Setter, Bridget, bred and owned by Ken Wall, J Fisher DVM, Tracy McNeal & R McNeal. We don’t know which of them had the lead or which of them has a photo , but our congratulations to them all.

MONDAY MOP UP, REGION ONE, PART TWO

We have reported some on our next Region one stop, the suburban Philadelphia burg of Wrightstown. We told you that the Whippet , CH Starline Chanel, took the BIS Friday at the Greater Philadelphia Dog Fanciers Association.

Chanel’s co-finalists were the Labrador Retriever, CH Casbar’s Hart To Hart, the Boxer, CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, the Sealyham, CH Efbe’s Merci Pour Le Poivre, the Italian Greyhound, CH Honore's Lily-Belle, the Lhasa Apso, CH Northwind Nothing But Trouble, and the Rough Collie, CH Kelso’s Moon Dancin PT.

CH Casbar’s Hart To Hart

The only one to make it back to the final ring for Saturday’s Huntingdon Valley Kennel Club show was the Lab, RJ. Pat Mowbray Morgan‘s other six finalists were the Pharaoh Hound, CH XO EZ JC, the Great Pyrenees, CH PyrlessStilistic Law-Order, the Kerry Blue Terrier, CH Bluebeard’s Suddenly Bridey, the Toy Poodle, CH Smash JP Moon Walk, the Keeshond, CH Quest Stand By Me, and the Old English Sheepdog, CH Whisperwood’s Wild Biscuit.

And the Black Lab, RJ, has momentum on his side, picking up his third BIS in the last month. The Sporting Dogs seem to have found their stride.

CH Scentasia’s Shake Rattle N Roll

Sunday, RJ, the Boxer, Scarlett, the Kerry Blue, the Toy Poodle, Walker, and the OES all made one last attempt to take home a BIS this weekend. Making their first final appearance of the weekend were the Otterhound, CH Scentasia’s Shake Rattle N Roll and the Dalmatian, CH Karefree Giovanna At Milledals. You only get one chance at making a good first impression. Just ask the Otterhound, who took home his first BIS of the year. This multi BIS/ BISS winner is the number one Otterhound in the US. Congratulations to breeders Ann L Hawley & E K Conway & M J Hawley & D Emery, owners Steve & Cathy Glenn, and handler Kitty Burke.

We are off to a late start this Monday after an emergency trip to the vet this morning. I think the current politically correct term is “an abundance of caution.”

CH Cal-i-Co Kiss The Girls

We like things orderly, so we start with Region One, the Northeast Region, and the northern most show, the St Lawrence Dog Club in Clayton NY. Thomas Nesbitt made the call on Satuday and his finalists were the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, CH Cal-i-Co Kiss The Girls, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Nashira's Ciro Of Anjari, the Siberian Husky, CH Huskavarna's Foxxy Cleopatra, the Cairn Terrier, CH Stonehaven Casting Crowns, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, CH South Forks Go For Broke, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Merryway's Midnight Magic Myst, and the German Shepherd Dog, Clarksville Olimpic Flame.

BIS went to the three year old Chesapeake, Morgan, his first of the year. Congratulations to breeders/owners JoAnn & James Colvin, co-breeder R Haskin, and handler Jeffrey Arch.

Sunday it was Joe Tacker’s turn to make the BIS call. He had the same Chesapeake and Ridgeback, but his remaining five were the Siberian Husky, CH Coventry's Peace Negotiator, the Border Terrier, CH Meadowlake Overnight Celebrity, the Long Coat Chihuahua, Tinypaws Lady Marmalade, the Standard Poodle, CH P'Paige Smoky Mountain Girl, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, CH Roragyn's Tuff Enuff. Determination paid off for the Rhodesian, Ciro. The four year old dog was bred by Concetta Jez & Doris M & Pasquale Pio, and is owned by Annette Ernst. Bravo to all of them.

A little further south, in Wrentham MA, the Ladies Dog Club had the Saturday show with Dorothy N. Collier in the final ring with the English Setter, CH Reidwood Red Alert, the Afghan Hound, CH Genesis Silverado, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Allure Blazing Star Alisaton, the Irish Terrier, CH Fleet St Fenway Fan, the Japanese Chin, CH Chindales Farah Fawcett, the Miniature Poodle, CH Dassin Hillwood Dierks Bentley, and the Border Collie, CH Sportingfields Reflections O Borderfame.

The country’s number one Border Collie, Kenya, picked up his third BIS this year. Congratulations to breeder/owner Dan Black, co-breeder Dionne Butt, and co-owner Debbie Butt.

CH Allure Blazing Star Alisaton

Sunday, Kenya, the Afghan, and the Dobrman, were all back for final of the Framinham District Kennlel Club. Louis Auslander’s remaining dogs were the Labrador Retriever, CH Salty Dog Of Tampa Bay, the Smooth Fox Terrier , CH Foxlorr Double Dare, the Papillon, CH Arkeno's Ears To You, and the Standard Poodle, CH Hillwood Dassin De-Lovely. His BIS was the Doberman, CJ. This three year old girl now has a firm grip on the number two all breed spot.

BACK TO BACK BLACK & TAN

We have a late report that the Black and Tan Coonhound, CH Silver Ridge Showtyme at Windbourne took another BIS fro the Yakima Valley Kennel Club. Sunday’s win was courtesy of judge Linda Scanlon. We’ll have complete results in the morning.

We have another back to back BIS to report and this one will surprise no one. The Scottish Terrier, CH Roundtown Mercedes Of Maryscot, was COL Joe B Purkhiser’s choice for Best In Show at Sunday’s Kennel Club of Pasadena (CA). That’s number 28, we think, we could have lost count.

HOT BLACK & TAN

We got a note from yesterday’s the Yakima (WA) Valley Kennel Club where temperatures soared to nearly 100 degrees. Had to be a tough day for a black dog, but it didn’t seem to bother Tiffany Skinner and her Black and Tan Coonhound, CH Silver Ridge Showtyme at Windbourne, as they went BIS under judge Laurence Libeu. The three year old bitch has been knocking on the door for some time now, but this is her first all breed BIS. Congratulations to Tiffany, breeders Gloria Castenholz & Lisa Schermerhorn & T L Johns, and co-owners Shelley L Campbell, Lisa Schermerhorn & Shea Skinner. Now, somebody get us a photo of this girl.

CH Tupelo Shoboat Tu China Tu

We have reports of two more BIS winners from yesterday’s shows. The first is from Woodstock IL and the day two show of the Fox River Valley Kennel Club. Today judge Patricia Gellerman chose the Pug, CH Tupelo Shoboat Tu China Tu, as her Best In Show. This win will help Boo tighten his grip on the number one Toy Dog spot.

CH Rush Hill's All Fools on Deck

The second report is from West Fargo ND and the Fargo-Moorhead Kennel Club. Karen C. Wilson tapped the Golden Retriever, CH Rush Hill's All Fools on Deck, as her top dog. It was the first all breed BIS for five year old Ocean. Congratulations to breeders Mark & Tonya Struble, and owners Candy & Jennifer Nee (who lead Ocean to this BIS), Cathy Williams, & Suzie Kleck.

BACK TO BACK IN INDIANA

CH Ripsnorter’s Mt View Lookout

A reader tells us that the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Ripsnorter’s Mt View Lookout, has won back to back BIS, taking both of the Southern Indiana Kennel Club shows this weekend in Corydon IN. Today judge Loraine Boutwell gave Scout his 14th career all breed BIS. We think there is a battle for number one Sporting Dog here.

LOVING THE LITTLE LOCAL SHOW

We showed up late today at our local show, but we did see a bit of the breed judging and all of the Group and BIS judging at today’s Olive Branch Mississippi Kennel Club show.

CH Arriba Chunky River

This show, which was super small, is what we call a boutique show, not a lot of quantity, but some outstanding quality. Judge Charles Olvis had three BIS winners in his final ring which included the English Springer Spaniel, CH Kyrta’s Keep To The Kode, the 15” Beagle, CH Irish Coffee Tipperrary Sparkling Wine, the Siberian Husky, CH Indigo’s Black Ieyed Pea, the Norfolk Terrier, CH Arriba Chunky River, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, CH Osito Dream Lover, CH E,lite’s By Design, the Chinese Shar-Pei, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Kylene Ede The Dragonslayer.

However, BIS went to a dog that had won his first Group a few minutes earlier, the Norfolk Terrier, Chunk. Owners Robert & Kathy Tant, had driven up from Tuscaloosa AL fully expecting to watch their friends' , Kendall & Tim Lake, Cairn, CH Winsome Fergus MacFlynn, finish in the Terrier Group ahead of them. However, today they watched Fergus take a Group Two behind their four year old. Congratulations to the Tants and Handler Judi Hartell.

CH Irish Coffee Tipperrary Sparkling Wine

Among the people that charmed us this weekend was ten year old junior handler Mary Lee. Mary was showing her Whippet, Wenrick’s Dash Rip Roc JC, in Juniors. However, the precocious handler also took home four group placements with two other dogs. She had back to back Hound Group Firsts with the above-mentioned Beagle, and a Group Three & Four with the Bernese Mountain Dog, Hickory’s Master Of The Sky. We hope to see Mary in the BIS ring again soon.

ANOTHER BIS FOR NUMBER ONE

CH Roundtown Mercedes Of Maryscot

Before we head off for day two of our local show, we have this report from Pasadena CA. The Scottish Terrier, CH Roundtown Mercedes Of Maryscot, has won yet another BIS. Kathleen Steen handed out the Kennel Club of Pasadena's top award to the nation’s number one dog. Sadie has been making appearances all around the country. Hopefully she will be appearing at a show near you soon.
