AKITA BEST IN OREGON

GCH CH Mojo’s Continuation of a Myth 

Our last report from the weekend comes in from Bandon OR and the Coos Kennel Club. The seven dogs that BIS judge Jane Forsyth considered were the Flat-Coated Retriever, GCH CH Windy Hill God of Fire RN JH CGC, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Foxtail’s Race for the Chase, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo’s Continuation of a Myth, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Vom Haus Harrock Don Diego Redrock, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Hilltop’s GQ Cover Boy, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Napachai Hilsman Throw Caution to the Wind, and the Australian Shepherd, H Baywind’s Travelin’ Man.

Best went to the Akita, Nik, and Reserve to the Beagle, JJ. It was the fourth BIS in 16 final appearances this year for Nik and handler Beep Lee.

GREATER COLLIN KENNEL CLUB

The Greater Collin Kennel Club wrapped up the big weekend in Dallas TX with judge John Shoe Maker in the final ring. Joining him were the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Pharaoh Hound, CH Farao Anubis Inferno SC, the Mastiff, GCH CH Goldleaf’s Trouble Coming CGC, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Yarrow Venerie Ticket to Ride, the Miniature Pincher, GCH CH Marlex Kisa Wildfire, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

It was the Brittany, Beckett, taking home the set’s last big rosette. The Norfolk, Rider, scampered away with the reserve ribbon. Beckett is the nation’s Number One Brittany, Number One Sporting Dog, and Number Four Dog All Breeds with 11 BIS and 40 Sporting Groups.

OES BEST IN SEDALIA MO

GCH CH Lambluv Sultry Sensation 

In Sedalia MO judge Denys Janssen closed the set for the hometown Sedalia Kennel Club. The seven seeking her approval were the Parti-Colored Cocker Spaniel , CH Monthaven’s The Birdcage, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Hoppledachs Guns Up ML, the Siberian Husky, CH Antaras Blue Eyed Floozy, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier , GCH CH Cumhil Hell Raiser, the Papillon, CH Mystery’s Question Mark, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Chilleykings Thats A Little Twisted, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv Sultry Sensation. 

 Her Best was the OES and her Reserve the Siberian. It was the second BIS in 12 trips to the final ring this season for the OES, Andrew, and breeder/owner/handler Jere Marder.

WELSH TERRIER BEST IN DEKALB

The Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, was judge Sulie Greendale-Paveza’s Best In Show Sunday at the Great DeKalb Kennel Club show in that Illinois city. 

GCH CH Gamegard’s I’ll Have Another V Braeside 

Joining Jennie in the final ring were the Welsh Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Trystyn Statesman Cactus Blue, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Hundeleben Queen’s Armada SL, the RBIS, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegard’s I’ll Have Another V Braeside, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Dejavu I Want’a Talk About Me, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH De Quetzal’s Declaration En Jasez, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Margaux’s Va Voom. 

The win, Jennie’s 12th BIS in 45 final appearances this year, will make Jennie the country’s Number One Terrier once again.

NATIONAL CAPITAL KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH McVan’s To Russia With Love 

Judge Sandra Walker closed the four day stop in West Friendship MD, taking the final of the National Capital Kennel Club. The seven dogs that stayed to the end for a chance at the big rosette were the Parti-Colored Cocker Spaniel , GCH CH Jems Going for The Knockout, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Treis Pinheiros Buona Sera SW, the Portuguese water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Iimpression de Matisse, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s To Russia With Love, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Krissy’s Never Ending Dream, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotted Bliss Oreo Delight, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Woodsides Megabucks. 

Going to the head of the line was the Scottie, followed close behind by the Shih Tzu. It was the second BIS in 21final appearances this year for the Scottie, Knopa, and handler Rebecca Cross and their second BIS over the country’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portie, Matisse.

OES THREE-PEAT IN VENTURA

GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect 

 We start our Monday Morning Mop Up on the West Coast in beautiful Ventura CA where the nation’s Number Two Dog All breeds, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, made it a clean sweep winning all three BIS. Sunday’s win came under judge David Bolus at the Ventura County Dog Fanciers Association show. 

GCH CH Penaire Cash Game at Longvue 

Judging Bolus also like the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Penaire Cash Game at Longvue, whom he gave the RBIS. Also in contention were the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Minie Moe, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Marienburg’s Special Ops Commando, the Toy Fox Terrier, GCH CH Ultra Quest Go for the Gold, and the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Yu Kou’s Keep on Luvn U CGC. 

The win puts Swagger’s 2014 record at 43 BIS and 77 Herding Groups. More importantly, the weekend puts Swagger 2,300 points closer to the Number One Dog.

In Monroe MI judge Bill Shelton called the Sunday final for the Ann Arbor Kennel Club. Judge Shelton’s superlative seven were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtins Lookin for Trouble, the Samoyed, CH Pebbles Run Cot’n Pic’n Cotton Gin, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Darwyn Bruhil's Flying Circus, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH ByRequest Bon Mot, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Moon River.

 It was the Setter, Teller, taking the Best In Show, and the Corgi, Rebecca, picking up the Reserve.  The win makes Teller the country's Number One English Setter and will put him in a dead heat for the Number Two Sport Dog with nine BIS and 29 Sporting Groups.

CHIUAHUA BIS IN MASSACHUSETTS

GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez) 

The Holyoke Kennel Club closed the five day set in West Springfield MA with judge Joan Scott’s final. The seven who stayed to the end for a chance at the big rosette were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Pebwin Hocus Pocus, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Cypress Bay’s Big Sur, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Highwood's Whirling Dun, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Giorgio Armani, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s My Turn.

 It was the smallest among them who took home the BIS, the Chihuahua, Sonnito. Packing up the RBIS was the Xolo, Armani. It was the 15th BIS in 37 final appearances for Sonnito and handler Erika Lanasa this year.

SPRINGER BEST IN WEST VIRGINIA

GCH CH Telltale American Ride 

Our first Sunday report comes in from Huntington WV where the hometown Huntington Kennel Club is offering up two shows. Today’s final was in the hands of judge Arely Hussin. Seeking judge Hussin’s approval were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Goldgrove Nmaste, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Connacht A Ha'Penny Will Do, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Char’s Seattle Slew For Triple Crown, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Unique Da Maya Dancing Queen, and the Puli, CH Kitiriana’s Reggie Lass CGC RN HSAS.

Taking home the big rosette was the Springer, Randy. Grabbing the reserve ribbon was the Pom, Huey. Randy is the nation’s Number One English springer Spaniel and Number Five Sporting Dog with four BIS and 39 Sporting Groups this year.

Our Pacific Northwest weekend is in Bandon OR with the Coos Kennel Club. Judge Harold Pybus had Saturday’s final and his pick of the Weimaraner, GCH CH Diamond MK The Eagle Has Landed , the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Foxtail’s Race For The Chase, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo's Continuation Of A Myth, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Vom Haus Harrock Don Diego Redrock, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Hilltop's GQ Cover Boy, the Bulldog, Weslins Roadside Romance, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Baywind’s Travelin’ Man.

His Best In Show was the Staffy Bull, Rico, and his Reserve, the Beagle, JJ. It was the first for Rico and owner/handler Thornton Alberg, Congratulations to Thornton, breeder David Marcus Harris, and owners Lynn Heimbuch & A Jivan.

OES TWOFER IN VENTURA

The Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, made it two in a row in Ventura CA, following his BIS at Friday’s Channel City Kennel Club show with another at Saturday’s Santa Maria Kennel Club show.

Challenging Swagger for judge Dr Carmen Battaglia’s attention were the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade’s Pay It Forward, the Norwegian Elkhound, CH Vin-Melca’s Daggarwood Delight, his RBIS, the Boxer, CH R and G N Hunter Creeks Mystical Attraction, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J’Cobe Broxen Accidently On Porpoise, the Toy Manchester Terrier, GCH CH Blossom’s Let’s Dance, and the GCH CH Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow. 

Swagger is not only the Number One Old English Sheepdog, the Number One Herding Dog, and the Number Two Dog All Breeds with 42 BIS and 76 Herding groups this year, he is the top winning OES in AKC history with 66 career BIS.

STANDARD POODLE BEST IN DALLAS

Judge Kathy Beliew was in Dallas TX Saturday to call the final for the Trinity Valley Kennel Club. The seven dogs that stayed to the end of the day to see her were the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International Space Station, the Mastiff, GCH CH Goldleaf’s Trouble Coming CGC, the Scottish Terrier, CH Whiskybae Lochraven Lollypop, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh. 

GCH CH Flessner’s International Space Station 

Finishing one/two were the Poodle, Flame, and the Bloodhound, Rocketman. Flame is the nation’s Number One Standard Poodle, Number One Non-Sporting Dog, and Number Three Dog All Breeds with 25 BIS and 69 Non-Sporting Groups to her credit this year.

BACK2BACK BIS FOR TOY SPANIEL

GCH CH LTO Prosperity 

This summer has seen a lot of standout dogs and the King Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, is one of those. Prosperity and handler Jeff Wright are in Sedalia MO this weekend where they have posted back2back BIS wins on Friday and Saturday. The latest win came yesterday at the Jefferson City Missouri Kennel Club show under judge James Fredericksen. 

Judge Fredericksen also liked the Siberian Husky, CH Antara’s Blue Eyed Floozy, whom he named his RBIS. Rounding out the final seven were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, the Longhaired Dachshund, CH Hoppledachs Guns Up!, the West Highland White Terrier , GCH CH Ridgmar’s Just Joking Around, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Alegria Ashton Martin, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv’s Sultry Sensation. 

It was the second back2back BIS performance for Prosperity this year, bringing his 2014 resume to six BIS and 27 Toy Groups.

ROTTWEILER BEST IN DEKALB IL

First from DeKalb IL where the hometown Greater DeKalb Kennel Club hosted their first of two shows this weekend, we hear that the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegards I'll Have Another V Braeside, was judge Loraine Boutwell’s Best In Show.

Joining Indy in the final ring were the RBIS, the Irish Setter, GCH CH Tramore Notorious, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Elmo’s Martian Chronicles, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, GCH CH King’s Mtn. Angelina Ballerina, the Papillon, GCH CH Fenice Le Beaudreux, the Keeshond, GCH CH KJ’s Hot Date, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy. It was the third BIS in 15 visits to the final ring this year for Indy.

Judge June Penta had the Saturday final and her pick of the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazer'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Raydachs Ride My Ducati SW, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Pouch Cove's Seabrook Enough Said, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Darwyn Bruhil's Flying Circus, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Byrequest Bon Mot, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey's Moon River.

She chose the Shih Tzu, Rocket, as her Best and the as her Reserve, the Poodle, B Ro. Rocket is having a supersonic summer with 11 BIS in the last 30 days, bringing his 2014 total to 13 BIS in 30 trips to the final ring this year. It may be a little anticlimactic, but need we say it? Rocket is a Dog2Watch.

SETTER BEST IN MASSACHUSETTS

Next we go to West Springfield MA where the Farmington Valley Kennel Club had the coveted Saturday spot. The seven dogs that lined up for judge Dana Cline were the English Setter, GCH CH Weymouth’s En Fuego, the Basenji, GCH CH Akuaba N Eldorado Betcha By Golly Wow!, the Newfoundland GCH Cypress Bay's Big Sur, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Stonebridge Just a Little Bit Better, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Dalmatian, GCH CH Planett’s Star Reporter, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s My Turn.

BIS was the Setter, Blaze, and RBIS was the Chihuahua, Sonnito. Blaze is the nation’s Number One English Setter and the Number Three Sporting Dog with seven BIS and 33 Sporting Groups.

First in today with results is the Huntington Kennel Club which is in their West Virginia hometown for the weekend. They asked judge Roger Hartinger to take the Saturday final and choose a Best In Show from the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Basenji, CH Epic Select Never Say Goodbye SC, the Samoyed, GCH CH Tobil's Storm Warning At Sunrise, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Camio's Educated Exemplar, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Char's Seattle Slew For Triple Crown, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Barnstorm To-Jo B'en Wicked@Adominos By Dzine, and the Puli, CH Moonshadow A League Of Her Own CD RA.

There are few more pleasant places to spend the 4th of July weekend than in Ventura CA with an ocean side venue, Friday’s Channel City Kennel Club show was the perfect place to have a beach front cocktail after the show.

The seven dogs that delayed the cocktail hour for judge Steve Gladstone’s final were the English Springer Spaniel, CH Foxboro N Shardust Authentic, the Borzoi, GCH CH Majenkir Bookstor Vintage Glamour, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Peaceriver SilverIce Summer Soltice, the Airedale, GCH CH Penaire Cash Game At Longvue, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Kulana's Sh-Boom, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Rufkin’s Hunk of Burnin’ Love, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect. 

 His BIS was the nation’s Number Two Dog All breeds, the OES, Swagger. His RBIS was the Borzoi, Glamour. Swagger has been maintaining a blistering space this year with 41 BIS and 75 Herding Groups.

GCH CH Coventry Just a Little Crush 

 If it’s July you want to be in Texas for the big Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston shows, events capable of deciding a national leader. This week it is Dallas and the first all-breed offering was Friday’s Texas Kennel Club show. 

 Lining up at the end of the day for judge Frederick Stephens were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Harline Win’Weim Encore Bravo Love Y’all, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International Space Station, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Dezperado’s Hallelujah, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH An Garda Deja Vu Looking at You, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Just a Little Crush.

 Taking home the first big rosette of the set was the Corgi, Etta. Collecting the Reserve ribbon was the Papillon, Jackson. It was the third BIS in 15 final appearances this year for Etta and handler Michael Shepherd.

TOY SPANIEL BIS IN MISSOURI

GCH CH LTO Prosperity 

Exhibitors in the Heartland are in Sedalia MO for a three day weekend. The Jefferson City Missouri Kennel Club opened the set with judge James Noe calling the final. The seven dogs seeking his favor were the Golden Retriever, CH Hytree Top Gun, the Saluki, GCH CH Tributes Ringside Scandal, the Great Dane, GCH CH Lobato’s Caught Red Handed, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Ridgmar’s Just Joking Around, the King Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Unique da Maya Dancing Queen, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH McMatt’s Autumn Breeze.

 The two that succeeded were the Toy Spaniel, Prosperity, and the Aussie, Breezy. Prosperity is the nation’s Number One English Toy Spaniel and Number Eight Toy Dog with five BIS and 26 Toy groups.

Hurricane Arthur left Mid-Atlantic fanciers relieved and happy to see pleasant weather today at the Northeastern Maryland Kennel Club show in West Friendship MD. Elizabeth Muthard had a sterling seven from which to choose her top two. They were the Vizsla, GCH CH Szizlin Rhapsody Never Say Never, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Akita, GCH CH Wicca’s Rule The Air, the Sealyham Terrier, GCH CH Efbe’s Thunder Rd at Burberry, the Toy Poodle, CH Smash Jp Beauty & Beat, the Keeshond, GCH CH Trumpet’s Gimme Back My Bullets, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Woodsides Megabucks.

Finishing one/two were the Poodle, Beauty, and the GSD, Megabucks. It was the second of the year for Beauty and Poodle handler extraordinaire, Kaz Hosaka.

Judge Patricia Laurans had the final today at the Kenilworth Kennel Club Of Connecticut show in West Springfield MA. The seven dogs vying for her attention were the English Setter, GCH CH Weymouth’s En Fuego, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek's Impression de Matisse, the Russell Terrier. GCH CH Monamour JP Energy Of Kiss, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Giorgio Armani, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical's My Turn CGC CGN HIC.

Her Best was the country’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portie, Matisse, and her Reserve the Setter, Blaze. As he enters the second half of the season Matisse has 67 BIS and 87 Working Groups this season, a record that any dog would be proud to have as a career accomplishment.

In West Friendship MD fanciers are hoping to avoid Hurricane Arthur which is bearing down on the Mid-Atlantic. At today’s Catoctin Kennel Club the seven dogs that BIS judge Alice Watkins saw were the Sussex Spaniel, GCH CH Kamand Tangled Up In Blue, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Rivergroves Enough Said, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country’s Tag I’m It, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Are-Jay’s Harlem Renaissance, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Ha’Penny Mirimar The Fab Fawn.

Taking the BIS was the Skye, Charlie, while the Bloodhound, Nathan collected the RBIS. Charlie is once again the nation’s Number One Terrier with 15 BIS and 56 Terrier Groups.

It’s day two in West Springfield MA and it was judge Kathleen Kolbert’s turn to choose a Best In Show for the Naugatuck Valley Kennel Club. Her Options were the English Setter. GCH CH Weymouth’s En Fuego, the Irish Wolfhound GCH Dun Myrica Doctor Gonzo Of Eagle, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Colored Bull Terrier, Notorious Never Say Never, the Pekingese, CH Pequest General Tso, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Cher Ami's Toast With Remy Martin, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Milas Latin Fever.

Her BIS was the Peke, The General, and her RBIS was the PWD, Matisse. It was the fourth BIS in 12 trips to the final ring this year for The General and breeder/owner/handler David Fitzpatrick.

BOXER BEST IN MASSACHUSETTS

GCH CH Brisbane "N" Blue Monday's Diamonds Are Decadent 

Our first show of the week is the Naugatuck Valley Kennel Club show, the first of five in West Springfield MA this holiday week. Judge Gayle Bontecou had the opening day final and her pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Celtic Thunder, the Irish Wolfhound, GCH CH Dun Myrica Doctor Gonzo Of Eagle, the Boxer, GCH CH Brisbane "N" Blue Monday's Diamonds Are Decadent, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Charthill Highland Lad Canty Troubadour, the Pekingese, CH Pequest General Tso, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Diva's Bastille My Heart, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Milas Latin Fever. 

The two she chose were the Boxer, Suri, and the Wolfhound, Gonzo. It’s the third in just seven final appearances this year for Suri and handler Kimberly Calvacca.
